Better decoding and lower noise floor than the build in DAC on the computer. Too much interference from other components on the motherboard and inferior shielding.

I still think I-505 is the worst. About 10 minutes or less worth of driving on the 505. It was so much that you can smell it from 3 feet away from the car. I was gagging when I went to wash it off (didn't want to get charged for a cleaning fee upon return). Wipers were useless even with the washer fluid spraying. I had to pull over to the nearest gas station after I was sure there were no more mosquitoes to wipe the headlights and windshield with those scrubber/squeegee things.

Nice man, what kind of headphones are you pairing this with?

Primarily I'm just going to be using it with my 2.1 computer speakers.

I have a Schiit Asgard 2 for my headphone amp.

Schiit's are nice! I had a Magni2 a few years back, but it died on me.

I replaced it with a Topping D2, and although it's not USA made, feature wise it's pretty awesome, and the price was lower than what I paid for the Magni2.

I have an M-Audio Profire 610 that I use as my main sound card for my speakers, and I run an optical out from that to the D2 for my headphones.

The sound quality is great, and it really shines when using higher ohm'd headphones.

That D2 looks like a slick unit, very nice!

Do you get into different brands of cables as well?

As someone who's been in the audiophile game for a long time, don't bother with cables until you're set on your main components. There's only a maximum of 10% of audible difference between cheap and good cables. Don't waste your money on the $1000± per meter snake oil.

I'm running Audioquest Bedrock speaker cables and King Cobra RCAs on my bedroom "high end" setup.

I demoed something like a $10k pair of MIT speaker cables and $5k pair of RCAs on that system and it wasn't an "omg night and day" difference between the Audioquest cables. But, there was a distinct and noticeable change.

Whether you like that change is another story. It comes down to your own opinion of what sounds better to your own ear. They were very nice cables though, MIT makes some good stuff. Just not sure they're worth the price.
