FYI - no fuel cut on 2017 MT BRZ's (burnout content)

A friend of mine had thought that the new 2017 cars may have introduced a fuel cut "feature", when applying the brake pedal at the same time as the gas pedal. Much like a lot of cars have these days for safety reasons.

So, naturally I put the theory to the test, because why else would we be giving the car gas while braking? Well, brake stand burnouts of course FYI I did this with pedal dance mode on. Skip through to about 6:00 minute mark if you just want to see the smoke

Ha. After I looked into it further, the BRZs have brake assist but not brake override.

LOL! Pleasantly useless. Nice test.

When you say 'pedal dance mode on' you mean you just used the 'off' button right?

No, I did the "pedal dance" combo of ebrake+brake pedal to disable everything.

I was under the impression that on the 2017 cars when you held the Off button for a couple of seconds it disabled all the nannies?

I thought you have to hold down both buttons for mode 4? You are right though, you can achieve the same mode as pedal dance with the buttons.

On my old FRS, I did pedal dance because of the brake LSD interference. So, I just do it on the BRZ out of habit for stuff like this.

There was some rumors/chat on the older cars about pedal dance vs button disabling and how ABS changes with that. Never was able confirm.

I actually started using the both button disabling method for racing on the 17.

Right so from a normal start you are in Mode 1. To get to:

Mode 2: Short press of the Off button
Mode 3: Press and hold (1 sec) "Track" Button
Mode 4: Press and Hold (3 sec) "Off" Button

And heres a confusing diagram to move between the modes.

I also read from a good source that they had a fuel cut feature. What sequence did you do exactly with the throttle/brake?
Because it's only when the throttle is already pressed, and then you apply brake. There is no fuel cut if the brakes are applied before the throttle (so heel-toe work).
But I'm guessing you pressed the brake after the throttle, so i'm puzzled

Maybe you need to go a certain speed for the fuel-cut to engage. Or have the nannies on. I'll have to test that.

I clutched dumped it at 7k rpms then moved my clutch foot to the brake. Maybe the fuel cut is silently disabled with pedal dance? You can test it out :p

So what exactly does brake assist do? I know it does the brake LSD stuff and for traction/stability, is that it?
