You actually can remove the plastic reverse lockout piece. There is a small pin near the top that you can tap out and then it just slides off. I did this and added some extra grease in there.
Yeah I'm curious too. And that's interesting I'll give that a try... the 450g shift knob made a HUGE difference.

Do they go against the washer/pin? Yeah I didn't think you could take that off. Mine bothers the hell out of me unless I'm blasting death metal. Mine's in all gears. It's not really noticeable under 3000 rpm but it's definitely there. I have really good hearing =[

What is weird to me is when I pull up the lever the noise goes away. I'm positive I've installed everything correctly, besides ripping off the dust cover =/. I also bent the little "dust cover" that goes on the bottom of the shifter (from the stock one, probably from messing around with the whole assembly so much), which I can't for the life of me find a part # for but doubt it'd cause a metal rattle sound.

They go on the control shaft linkage. I'm guessing you both used the DIY on this forum for the install--they weren't included with the shifter originally, but if you jump to the last few pages of that thread, others talk about them.

Are they just o-rings or rubber washers? Did you fit both on or just one? And did that clear up the rattle? Thanks. Yeah I used that DIY.

I didn't put them on, but it sounds like your rattle is worse than mine. Based on comments in the DIY thread, it seems like most people could only fit one but it did help with the rattle.
