Vortech supercharged owners custom 3" intake interests! **UPDATES**

Hey Vortech owners I'm having a custom 3" intake made to adapt to our vehicles. Which gets rid of the hideous plastic airbox for better air flow and cleaner looks. The pipe will be 2-piece; initial install will require removal of the front bumper. Intake will look similar to the Perrin intake grabbing fresh air outside of the bay. The 2-piece design will be V-band for easy, quick removal of the pipe closest to the charger for any work needing to be done. The fabricator that is doing the work does top notch aluminum welding and product will be nothing but flawless. My car will be the test to get everything fit and made. If there are any interests in the intake for anyone else's Vortech setup I will be taking deposits on them. Pieces will be raw aluminum looking unless pieces are wanted to be power coated. Please send me PM's regarding this if there are interests. The work has not yet to be started but will be very soon. Here are just a couple of pictures of the work that this fabricator does and is capable of for anyone worried about the end product looks.

**UPDATE 5/20/17**

Exhaust was fixed here are some shots of the work. Pulled the piping higher to prevent scraping and installed a V-band to my MXP cat back.

THE WELDS ARE MAGICAL! ALL DONE BY HAND!

--awaiting parts for the fabrication of the intake.--

**UPDATE 5/30/17**

A short coupler was going to be used with a pie cut curved piping section but due to the tight bend that it needed and limited space it was a coupler that had to do the job.

**UPDATE 5/31/17**

Some more progress...a few designs to test. Due to the intake being 3" it's having a bit of trouble going under the radiator support. Also being difficult to oval the piping a coupler will be used for that portion as this intake is also to help the user to work on the car as well.

**UPDATE 6/3/17**

Final touches being made before welding.

**UPDATE 6/5/17**

Getting welded up today. One step closer! Can't wait to hear this thing rip!

**UPDATE 6/6/17**
Finalizing everything now!

**1st Vortech Cold air intake system. If there are any interests please private message me about details. This kit can be duplicated for other users that are serious. Will be taking deposits. Kit can be powdercoated as well for an additional fee.**

Are we hoping for gains, or purely cosmetic? I rather like the vortech airbox but I could be the minority.

In for pictures/price

Of course gains! 3" piping will be pulling more colder air from outside the bay than the Vortech box which uses the small factory plastic inlet under the bumper. The whole reason they went this route was due to keep costs down. But if there are other users that want to squeeze out some more power and look good while doing so this will be the answer. Judging on how tight the spot is from the other night speaking with him. Costs are roughly $300-$400 range not including the filter which I will be supplying him with a Perrin filter. These are still estimates.

Definitely interested in this as a full kit including the silicone couplers and filter.

Also a black powder coat would be nice so it matches the rest of the kit.

Doesn't Vortech use a draw-through MAF? I don't see a MAF housing.

MAF on the vortech kit is relocated to the charge pipe after the intercooler under the passenger headlamp.

IAT will probably be the same. The factory Vortech inlet is already positioned to draw air from the front bumper.
