31 no kids, almost 100k a year still only have the FRS. Only twice have I regretted getting it. Once when I couldnt transport a couple of ladies and my friends back to their place, and when I couldn't fit the 65 TV in the car.
Currently looking for a beater ($1500 or so) to start dropping cash into the build

I don't see why the FR-S/BRZ couldn't be your only vehicle. It's not like a motorcycle or convertible. There's seating for 4 in a pinch (excuse the pun). The gas mileage is fine. Reliability and maintenance costs are good especially being a newer car.
It might not be the quietest or most comfortable car, but it'll get the job done for everyday use. And on fun roads or track/autox it'll be more fun than a heavy sports sedan or FWD hot hatch. If you're willing to trade a little refinement to get into a lightweight RWD coupe, it's great.

It's the only car I own and the very first car I've ever owned. I've had no problems with it!
I commute 1 1/2 hours to work 4 days a week, and use it all year around. Travelling in the winter isn't too much of an issue and I make it work. My friends and family love the car, and really enjoy being there to watch it grow. Being a very active person all season, I've had no problem with the space. I can fit 4 snowboards in there and a few bags during the winter. I also do a lot of camping in the summer and that's only when it gets tough. I have to use all the trunk and back seat room. I take the thing through mud, sand, snow. I drift it occasionally and drive it hard majority of the day. I personally love the car and have taken it through it's paces in such a short period of time.

I have been driving my FRS for just over a year now, no problems. If there is any sort of road trip though, its the wife's GMC Terrain. I have fit a bike in on a few occasions, and any construction materials under 6' long will fit between the seats.

I had my FRS for 3 years and drove the heck out of it just fine. My wife has a Mini Cooper though, so neither of us had a large vehicle. We started doing more work on our house and needing to haul stuff, including lugging animals around and their stuff, SO eventually I traded in the FRS for a pickup truck. However, now we don't own that house OR those animals anymore, and my wife's getting rid of the Mini for a larger vehicle.... SO either the truck is turning back into an 86/BRZ, or I'll get a cheap used one as an extra car for fun. I have hauled stuff about 2 times total in the past year now, sooooooo otherwise, I'd say the FRS was PLENTY useful. I packed that bad boy FULL of groceries and luggage in its time, so it's pretty convenient for what it is.

It is my only car and I almost got rid of it due to the seats. I have broad shoulders and lower back pain. Tried everything and my last attempt will be installing some Recaro Style Xl seats $$$$. I love the car that much...turbo will have to wait this year.

You'd think these days <4 doors would be enough of a deterrent to anyone looking to bum a ride beyond the front passenger seat. A wardrobe leading to Narnia it is not.

I've owned my frs for about 2 years now and to be honest its met pretty much all of my needs and expectations. I've had a full car in a pinch, packed bunch of stuff in the trunk, and ended up folding the seats down for extra luggage, but luckily havent had an experience where i felt it was inadequate. One thing I've noticed is that driving this car daily does eat away at the car feeling "special". Imho, despite all the looks/thumbs up/etc you get, literally driving 1hr+ everyday it can start to feel like any other civics and corolla out there. BUT, I've noticed that after I drive another car/people mover even briefly, I immediately felt how special the twins are in comparison. It rejuvenates my appreciation and love for the car. At least thats how it is for me.

I just got an FRS as my only vehicle. It's a lot easier to live with than the 1990 Miata I had for 10 years as my first car. It's bigger, it's quieter, it rides better, it's faster, it doesn't have a softtop that likes to leak and eventually needs replacing, it has remote central locking (YAY!), and AC.
I did have a roof rack on my Fit (which was my second car), and I won't put one on the FRS. So instead of my plastic kayak I will trade for my mum's inflatable kayak. But that's the only real compromise I need to make. Other than that I'm finding the FRS to be a better daily driver than the Fit even. |

Where I live it snows in the winter and is sunny in the summer and the BRZ has been my only car. I have taken it to the ski hill and all over and haven't had any issues. The only thing that I find to be an issue are the blind spots occasionally. Otherwise perfectly fine.
