I want to buy the new v. 3 kit, but I don't know whether to get the one with or without the ecu. I saw that the one with the ecu is tuned for full exhaust, intake, etc... I don't plan to have any of that for a long time, I'm just going to install the kit as is on a stock '13 FRS. Should I go with an aftermarket ecu like Ecutek? Thanks for any help.

I think better off getting he most that are neede since that is what HKS recommends.... I have certain parts that I will be using when I get the kit, but close enough. Biggest difference is o will have leering 3' CBE and Tomei EL headers. Otherwise everything else is all HK

So is an EL header absolutely needed or can you run a UEL on the 91 tune as well? I'm getting ready to swap the header and the plugs. If I have to go full HKS I will, just wondering if adding a different header would cause any chaos.

Surprised you never got a reply yet. I ran UEL for many months and it was fine. You get more torque with UEL but sacrifice HP. And with that, you get more HP with EL but sacrifice Torque. I now have the HKS EL and I noticed a difference in the way the car accelerated for sure and enjoy the sound more. It's a smoother acceleration now in my car rather than seeming to pull at low rpm, drop mid rpm, and pull again at high rpm. None of this was dyno tested but obviously once you know your car you'll feel the changes even if they aren't massive numbers on a dyno.

You sold me at smoother acceleration. It tends to want to throw me around if I stay at low rpm's or lower gears for an extended period. Mostly in traffic jams.

Thanks so much.

So my supercharger died on me the other day. I tool the plumping off to see what was going on with the impeller and it wasn't spinning...... so I called around to see what the price of a new compressor is! Turns out it's a lot
$3500. So I decided that I have to see wtf is going on with my charger.
Turns out the threads that drive the proprietary system are completely stripped!!
I have had this kit for just over a year and have about 20,000 kilometers on it !!! So I'm kinda pissed
Hks doesn't sell a rebuild kit!
They want you to send your charger to them and pay 2k$+ to fix it .... now that's a lot considering the price of the complete kit...

So now I'm going to have to fix this awful design flaw on my new hks v3 kit or I'll be buying a new Jackson racing kit and kicking the hks to the curb.....
I'll see how I can either machine some new threads it somehow or something 🤔

Is the HKS v3 SC still for sale in the US? I just tried to purchase and got an email from the seller saying "I've confirmed that this part number is currently on Backorder with no ETA of availability. My sincerest apologies for the inconvenience." Seems like HKS USA is closed.

Same problem with mine. I'm based in Australia so I'm going through the local guys here, but I don't have much faith in what I've heard so far. I'll probably design my own fix in CAD then see if I can get it machined. Might be a market for them haha!

That sucks man, but HKS USA is back and hopefully can step in to help with this. I so want an HKS supercharger, but that is the stuff that worries me. When not in the states or able to help.
