No PepBoys for 100 miles... I checked AutoZone yesterday and they only had a few chrome tips. Amazon does not have the black DC tips but does have the polished. Anyone find a place to order them online?

As you requested... the stock tips are truly crap!

so here's a story for you guys.
about 10am i head out to my pepboys to pick up the tip. rudest employees as usual, but i got my tips and was out in about 30min. drove home a little faster than usual as i was pretty excited to put them on. i back into the driveway to get a little privacy while i put them on as my garage is just filled with garbage. it's about 11am now and i'm all ready to go, got my ratchet set, some wd40 just in case. i open up the case to the set and the 10mm socket is missing. all that's there is a gap where it used to be. i don't have a 10mm wrench and i was not about to use pliers so i start looking around for it. about 11:30am i find it in my dad's computer drawer. i rant for a bit about how or why it ended up there, but my excitement returns and i'm back out the door. i get down and start taking off the existing tips, they come off with ease. i start to put on the first black tip. around this time i start hearing some birds above me moving around in my gutter. i figure they're making a nest so i look up a few times but i don't see anything. about 2min pass and the first tip is on, the noise above me yet to stop. i start putting on the 2nd tip after standing up to align it perfectly with the first and all of a sudden a little bird comes crashing down from my roof, skimming my shoulder. i stood there shocked for a few minutes just staring at it as it struggled to move, but at the same time wondering how the hell this happens. so i put my excitement aside and head inside. grabbed a shopping bag and a cardboard box and put the guy inside there, it was barely moving at this point, just breathing slowly. i thought for sure it'd be dead very soon but i felt bad just throwing it out. i put some water on it and left a little cup in the box as well. i end up showering just cuz of all that stuff about bird's carrying diseases and what not, figured i should play it safe, so i don't get back to my 2nd tip until around 12:15. 12:30 it's finally done and it just looks absolutely great. a huge improvement over the stock tips, i honestly couldn't be happier. i go to check on the bird and it's just sitting there looking up at me. i was just as shocked as i was when it fell on me. the thing seems perfectly ok, but i think it's a baby and can't fly yet. i also now remember hearing that if you touch a baby bird, its parents abandon it. so now i feel like a total asshole because the thing is sure to die now even though it survived the fall. so for those who made it through that story, enjoy some pictures! i went with the ovals (EX1017B). and yea my car's dirty as hell as it's been raining every other day. tip pics: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/71070185/photos/SDC11335.JPG https://dl.dropbox.com/u/71070185/photos/SDC11336.JPG https://dl.dropbox.com/u/71070185/photos/SDC11338.JPG bird pics: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/71070185/ph...2011.44.35.jpg the moment it happened https://dl.dropbox.com/u/71070185/ph...2011.49.26.jpg initially after putting it in the box https://dl.dropbox.com/u/71070185/photos/SDC11337.JPG alive and well! for now.. :/ |

Looks like the bird can survive. Maybe you should called FR-S.

The big question is "where is your 10mm wrench"!
Good story

Tips look great, and a great story.
I'm no bird expert but its definitely a baby. You could try to find a rescue group to care for it, or maybe find its next and try to put it back. Unless you feed it, it won't survive I don't imagine. Had something similar happen to me once. Sitting outside my son's trumpet lesson minding my own business when there was a huge THUNK on the driver's side door, scared me to death. Got out of the car (not the FRS) and on the ground was a huge owl just sitting on the ground literally shaking his head like he was trying to shake off a hangover! I stared at him a while, he stared up at me like "What the f... dude!". Then after about 5 minutes he just flew off. |

I just got these the other day. Not DC Sports exhaust tips, but I think they look good. They are actually aluminum exhaust tips, and pretty light.
