The rod let go. just so happen the piston hit the valves in the after math. I will have better images when we tear into it. Got a lot of the stuff taken off. Just need to take the transmission off and we can start getting at head bolts/case bolts.
Got right to work and got her out yesterday. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Going to look into what I need to keep in the engine bay and what I can move out. Want it as clean as possible. I call about my transmission later today, depending on how that goes, I plan on ordering the mounts from Vorshlag anyway and hoping they can get them here quick. Also trying to figure out what to do with my hood. Had a piece of the block shoot up and put a pretty bad dent from the underside in the hood. Extremely noticeable and it cracked the paint. Looking for a used hood, but they all seem to be damaged to some degree. Edit: Looked back through and it looks like a lot of the pictures are dead again

Sucks to hear about the motor. What power/ boost levels were you at with the SBD kit?
Been following your build; good luck with the LS swap! |

Thanks. I was running 14psi on e85. Should be making about 380whp on the TD05-20G that came on the original kits. Lasted a good while at that level.

Cleaned up the engine bay, and looked through it to see if I could move any wires out the way. I am really not sure what all needs to be hooked up with the MRS can unit, so not sure what wires to keep, and what I can get rid of. I think I might just start trying to move the giant plug that connects to the engine harness into the cabin for now. I also mocked up how I want the radiator to sit. Should allow me finally vent the radiator out the hood, and give me extra clearance on the pulleys.
Bumper not really on very well, gets the point across. ![]() Frame needs cut or massaged a bit with a big hammer ![]() Got rid of the ballast dead center of the picture. For some reason I left the Ballast installed on the car, but took all the wiring out when I upgraded to the new 55 watt. ![]() ![]() Plan is to cut the radiator support beam along the bumper. This will allow me to bolt the bumper up, but also have clearance for the intake/ducting. Will run hood pins. ![]()

Moved the ABS/Headlight wiring
![]() ![]() Still clears hood struts ![]() ![]() ![]() I also ordered the stuff for a return style fuel system For Return Fuel system (and I might have enough to do a feed as well). I ordered the FPR Blank from Vit Viper (Product Page Here) They talked about installing a return system Here. Made ANOTHER order to Summit: Aeromotive EFI FPR w/fittings and Gauge DEi Fire sleeve to wrap the feed and return lines by headers Holley Fuel Rail (Really wanted the Fore Innovations Rails, but wasn't worth the extra money to me) Russel 90 degree -6AN bulkhead fitting Russel -6 bulkhead washer Russel -6 bulkhead nut -6 AN wrench 20' of Vibrant -6AN Black/Blue Hose 6 x -6 Vibrant Straight fittings 2 x -6 Vibrant 45 fittings 2 x -6 Vibrant 90 fittings Really hoping I have enough fittings, trying to route the lines in my head without the engine in the bay wasn't working out too well. Interesting thing to note is the fuel filter is a part of the fuel pump assembly, so an external isn't necessary. Save some money there.

Curious, why didn't you upgrade the rods at that power level?

Upgrading the rods, might as well upgrade everything else. . I had plans to do an engine build, but decided for what I wanted LS swap was the best course of action.

More parts, and started disassembling the engine.
![]() ![]() Got to about here and realized I still have to test fit, and modify the headers. Need to get the merge cut and a 2.5" to 3" transition welded on (unless I can get 3" directly on the merge). So all this needs removed ![]() ![]() Also, the banjo bolt was a bit too long, I was told to just cut it/grind it shorter. Going to try and find a shorter one first (or wait to see if the one from Vorshlag actually gets shipped out) ![]() Got the transmission separated, and good side of the engines head off. Clutch doesn't look good at all. ![]() ![]() Springs on the clutch disk have some weird wear on them. ![]() Head looks okay ![]()

Tore into the engine more. This time, the bad side. Opened up valve cover and noticed rocker arms had fallen off.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rod now a permanent part of the block ![]() Rod wedged in the crank. I figure it was going to be stuck, but just slight tapping with a wrench and it came out. ![]() I was even able to get the bolts off (somehow) even though the head of the bolts were detroyed. Bearing doesn't look too bad all things considered. ![]() ![]() Also got a few parts in the mail. Fuel Components came in. Still waiting on the FPR by-Pass which is due for delivery Saturday, and fuel line which is suppose to ship first of next month (summit doesn't seem to stock Vibrant Hose). With the 25' I have should cover a feed and return set-up. Few other things trickling in. ![]() Lots of Vibrant fittings. ![]() ![]()
