Seems likes horrible deal. I'm not familiar with your currency and prices over there, though. In the US, you could get a 2013 for about 10 grand cheaper than a new 2017 BRZ. With 10 grand you could easily just do the forced induction yourself..it would probably be cheaper. No way would it ever be worth it to pay $3K more than you would for a 2017 brand spankin new...

This like someone offering a modded 2013 for around $30,000, you'd have to be an idiot to pay over $23k for it imo

Just make sure there is no unseen damage from the accident. It really sucks that Australia charges you a tax/fee of 5k to F/I your car. You basically have no choice but to pray the car is in good condition. DIY would be way to expensive. I want to SC mine very badly but I am having issues with spending 6k on the edelbrock kit. Then another 1k+ for install and tune. If there was another 5k on top of that no one in the US would add F/I to this car. They would just do a motor swap. Which might not be a bad idea for you. 2013 86 with a good body. Swap in a LS2 crate motor. I think the whole swap including engine and transmission is like 12k installed in the US. You can sell the old motor and tranny to get a bit of the money back.

12k and then another 5k to engineer the new motor :P

No need for insults mate. If I had the brains of a teenager I would not have posted asking for advice, which has successfully steered me to a significantly cheaper modified car that gives me a large repair budget, I would have just bought the first one if I was a teenager.

Pretty much anything vehicle related here that involves major changes to the vehicle requires engineering to ensure it is safe and still complies with all legislation etc. Costs about 5k for major things like turbo's, engine swaps etc.

Here is a link to a video that pretty much sums up the whole modified car thing for me. Unless you are going to be doing all of your own mechanical work, I would recommend staying far away from big mods cause your mechanic is not going to be your friend.

To me buying a modified car like the one posted is kinda like being the guy who ends up with the high priced call girl at the end of her career.

I bought a Supercharged car with all the bells and whistles with 30k miles. Needed a new supercharger (known before purchase) that was 2 months and $2000. 4 days after replacing the super I broke a rocker. There goes $3200 and 2 more months on a new motor. I had about 6 hours of seat time when I dropped an extra $5000 on the car.

Not saying this will happened to you, but beware. You might be jumping into a huge money pit. Luckily I love my car and there is about $16000+ of mods into it so for me its worth it....as long as it doesn't brake again....

Thats crazy. There must be a lot of cars with illegal work done. How will the government know unless you tell them or its very obvious?
