XXR info

I will just leave this here. I thought I'd do some reaching out myself. Already expecting the shit flooding in.. buuuuuuuuut without further delay:

Mods, please feel free to lock this down or delete if not allowed. I just thought I would post this since there seems to be a lot of misconception with these wheels in particular.

The complaints about XXR aren't that they make "fake" wheels but that many of their designs are replicas of other brands. For example, the XXR 527 is a replica of the WedsSport TC105N.

A "fake" wheel is a wheel that tries to pass itself off as the original and usually includes the markings found on the original, XXRs wheels have their own markings so you can easily tell them apart from the original so I would never accuse XXR of making "fakes" but they do make many replicas and that doesn't sit well with some people. I can't throw stones about this though, because I roll on replicas too.

The other reason XXR has a poor reputation is because they had a high number of catastrophic failures early on. Google xxr broken wheels and you'll find plenty of images and discussion. They seemed to have either discontinued or updated the affected designs because I can't find anything posted more recently then 2012 that wasn't a result of something that could have broken pretty much any wheel.

Those are my 2c on the matter anyway.

Totally agree with you. Just like you may have read in my last message to them I've been using their wheels since 2012. I must have been lucky that they didn't fail on me around then. I wonder if back then if they even had JWC/VIA approved wheels too. I remember awhile back I bought the 527 from some seller. They were then stolen unfortunately a year to a year and half later. Wanting the buy the same wheels, I did see the price go up about 40 bucks per wheel or so after they were stolen, so maybe they put that cost towards JWC/VIA.

While they are similar, they aren't exactly replicas. But I get your point.

The "fake" wheels are the fake 3 piece wheels with the style bolts

I do also find it interesting that they make OE wheels too. That should speak for their durability (toyota 86 Release Series forged wheel) as they stated.
