Scarlet, My BRZ Daily Driver

Hey everyone...I've been on this forum since October 2015, a couple of months after I bought my 2013 Subaru BRZ. Originally I went to a car lot to co-sign for my buddy. I first saw the BRZ and I had never seen it before, I immediately fell in love. My buddy was getting a 2003 Audi TT and I was thinking to myself, damn if he was going to have a car better than me (at the time i was driving a 2005 Toyota Cavalier). Previously I had 2002 Audi TT but due to some financial changes and better opportunities for my family I chose to part with it. A few years went by and I thought it was time to get back in a vehicle that I had really wanted. So when I started to look at this new car I had never seen before I was totally disappointed to find out it had a manual transmission. I was like fuuuudge... that was a total deal breakfast because i had never driven standard before and didn't know how. So while my friend was getting his Audi I could think about was this BRZ. It was metallic gray and looked just beautiful. In the end I decided to just try to see if I'd get approved. At the end of the day everything worked out and we both got our cars. Since I didn't know how to drive stick, I drove his car and he drove mine. He had agreed to teach me so that help me decide to just go for it. I started learning to drive that night and took it to work the next few days beating both morning and evening traffic so I could get used to it. Work was only 4 miles away so I wasn't freaking out too much. On the sixth day I just said f-this and took off driving everywhere. I was finally comfortable yay! That's when I decided to name her Scarlet because of the interior gauges and red stitching.

Fast forward to the summer of 2016...I had Scarlet for about 8 months. I was still excited everyday driving her was great. I didn't mention that the previous owner had mods installed. Intake and exhaust, boy did she sound great. So when I heard Subaru had announced the 2017 models, I like many others, was hoping for a boosted model. Unfortunately it didn't happen but that's ok. That's when I had saw the Series.Yellow. I had been following the twins ever since I got one and had seen the Series.Blue and Series.HyperBlue. Man, I mean who wouldn't want a limited edition BRZ. They are sexy after all. So that's when I decided to see what I could so to get into a Series.Yellow...1 of 500. WOW! I had went to the dealer and they said they were coming in March of 2017 and if I was truly interested I'd had to reserved one with a down payment so they could order me one. I was excited...so I went at it to get prepared to up my credit score. I was going to go for it.

I got a call on Feb 2nd from the Subaru dealer. They said my car was in. Everything just felt surreal. I was nervous because I felt I was nowhere near where I wanted to be on my score. Come the next day, I was approved and they told me I could pick up my car the day after so they could touch it up and finalize everything. 🙂 Meet Scarlet 2.0...

Ultimately it's been great being in this community of enthusiasts. I read everyone's posts and I look at different threads on here and it's great to see everyone come together and give feedback. I am glad there are people that can relate and give helpful advice and opinions. So I help I can look to you guys to any advice I might need. I do want to mod my car but I'm not looking to mod anything that will void my warranty so anyone able to give any info based on experience on what I can and cannot do, I'd appreciate it. Break in period was obviously first on my list of things to do. Thanks all. Ttyl.

Major congrats on the yellow BRZ. Looks delicious. If the 86 was available in yellow, I would have gone for it. Or even blue

You can switch cat-backs without voiding warranty or failing emissions. Its great when you only plan to DD and just want a nice sound. I found it on Borla's website:

"Q. Will it void my factory warranty?

NO. Some cars even have BORLA® systems as the OEM exhaust. All of our street Cat-Back™s™, Rear Sections and Mufflers are 50-state emissions legal. In fact, it is illegal for a dealer to deny you the OE warranty because you have changed the exhaust system.

If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov.

Here is the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975.

MAGNUSON MOSS WARRANTY ACT

US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312"
