OEM 17x7.5 +48 STI wheels for winter.

Winter is coming... well not anytime soon but need to save for a set of winter tires. Do you think using these rims for winter use is a waste? If it is... I can just buy some stock wheels and have the winter tires mounted to them. Let me know your opinions.

They can work. But unless you need them for some BBK fitment, and if usage in winter with winter tires is considered 1) i'd get R16, as tires for those are usually noticeably cheaper, 2) imho better narrower wheel, as often winter tires are chosen narrower to push better through slush, to not stretch them on wider wheel. So i'd rather look for some 16x7 or 16x6.5 set for winter that would clear our brakes, be lighter, would allow narrower (195 or 205) & cheaper tires, etc, etc

Check sticky threads here for wheel directory. Has nice tables for different size/width/offset fitment links, + later posts with pics of specific wheel models with their size mentioned and link to their threads. Should help find some good set of wheels of look you may like.
