You should be able to come up with an ECUTEK license for $350, and an e-tune from Moto-east for $200-250, or $350 from delicious. If you don't have someone close to you that you can borrow an ECUTEK dongle/USB from (free), then you'd have to purchase the dongle. But you can get one used as well. I will vouch for the moto-east e-tune. The tune on both 93 and E85 is flawless and drives just like stock. I had problems initially, but it was due to a loose bolt that was causing a grounding issue. In terms of the Sprintex 210, I don't think you'll find more experienced tuners than Mike at Moto-East, or the guys at Delicious. Especially at the power level you are going for, an E-tune would be incredibly smooth and straight forward. I would hesitate to go with a factory type tune (like the sprintex in-house tune), as I'm not sure how many revisions they provide, and the tune won't be optimised for your car -- It will be an off-the-shelf setup (unless i'm misunderstanding correctly). I've not heard many good things about early sprintex/innovate tunes -- If you read the early pages of this thread you can see why I would be hesitant. This isn't to say that things haven't improved however. Also -- Although you are shooting for 225-230whp, you may find that you want more down the road. I would say that most folks end up pushing for more power as they get used to things. In the event of this happening you'll definitely want a platform like ECUTEK so that you at least have the ability to run different pulleys, tunes, and fuels. From my point of view, an E-tune makes more sense, with the most expensive situation being about 900-1000 USD. |

Aj, thanks partner that makes total sense. I remember when I put one of the first Jackson racing supercharger kits on my 99 miata with the sport package I think it was the m48 eaton charger. It was a lot of fun, however in those days it came with a fuel card, that I believe was made for Oscar by Dobeck , one of the founders of power commander for the motorcycles. It was all we had then, I loved the charger but until the day I sold it I never once got rid of the occasional idle droop.
Anyway that is the route I am going to go. Thanks so much for your input. I will keep you posted. I still have one more surgery to get through with the VA from my Iraq war injury. I hope to be up to speed to start doing the install towards the late part of June. Best regards Steve |

Bunny hop / slight hesitation is a hardware limitation of the kit, not a tuning problem. It happens because the bypass valve is open until certain pressure parameters, resulting in less effective boost.
When it closes it causes a surge of power as the supercharger goes into full boost, which resonate slightly in the drivetrain tension. Also the valve will flutter if it closes while the motor is under a certain load. Its going to happen regardless of the tune.

riboyster, thanks partner, I seem to remember a little bit of that now in the miata. That unit in the day didn't put out near the power that these units do. I am pretty sure it something that I can live with, or adapt to. thx for your input. Steve

I own a 2012 Toyota GTS 86 with a sprintex supercharger. I have a drop in K&N air filter and was wondering if i am able to install a Perrin Cold Air Intake to it and would i notice much in sound and performance? Heres a photo of my engine bay -

Sound = a little See my build thread for youtube videos of my car on the track and street with the Perrin intake. You need to remove the front bumper to install and clean your Perrin intake so keep that in mind. Not a quick 10 second filter change or clean anymore.

OK -
Car is all buckled up, and ready to go. Stage 2 with 69mm pulley. It is NOT tuned yet, however before it gets its tune I would like to do a leak check/pull it out of the shop to make room for another car. Is it okay to run this set up on a stock tune as long as its not actually being driven (past the point of gently backing it out)? |

Perhaps the people that said that didn't give me all the details however. I'd play it safe personally and put the tune on first.
