I agree with everyone else. They lied to you once and they sold a car that was on deposit. I have NEVER heard of that being done in ANY sort of commission based job. You put a deposit down on THAT car it basically does become YOUR car once you leave a deposit down.

It depends on what you want to do, you can simply ask for your deposit back and go elsewhere but that means you'll be allowing whatever jerk that sold your car to screw someone else over. If you want the demo car because you ended up like whiteout more than firestorm then demand for either an extended warranty or a huge price reduction because demo cars are basically pre-owned by the time their done with.

After what the "manager" did, you have all the leverage in the world to demand whatever you want. Especially if you gave them cash or deposit check that they already cashed. The dealer might just not deal with you though and just return your deposit. Either way, you have nothing to lose and try to milk as much as you can from the dealer. Try to get a brand-new Firestorm sent over with Bespoke included.

It is a different dealership, but I have never bought anything from there. Just something I found after I was on the phone for two hours searching for one in the area.

Thanks for help everyone....looks like ill wait and get the exact one I want and you can bet I'll have the dealer sign something that says this car is MINE. Looks like I may be on a couple month long list though, the things I'd do to that manager right now. Could be running it through the gears as we speak.

THIS FU@#N ASSHOLE TOOK YOUR DEPOSIT THEN SOLD THE CAR TO SOMEONE ELSE! YES, DO CALL HIM TOMORROW BUT TELL HIM YOU ARE REPPORTING HIS DEALERSHIP TO THE DA'S OFFICE AND BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, AND REQUEST THE OWNERS NAME OF THE DEALERSHIP AS YOU ARE TAKING LEGAL ACTION. (small claims court)

REPORT BACK TO US AFTER YOU DO THIS. (i'll bet you get a much better offer)

I would suggest you complain to scion headquarters. The dealer can be penalized for this including the loss of inventory. Customer ratings play a role in their vehicle allotment.

Yep, call them to refund your deposit and tell them that you spoke to the Toyota Headquarters and they said to move your interest to a different dealer and that they were under investigation for not being truthfull and for lying. Scare them a bit and move on

No such thing as DEMO car in Japan that will ship to the USA for sale.

The cars ship directly from factory to the USA and if there are any kept for R&D, PR, marketing, or QC use by Toyota, it will not be a car allocated to the USA for normal consumption.

If your dealer told you this... WALK AWAY.

I'm sure the finance manager will issue you a check for the refund without issue. No need to call DA's?(lol), or the BBB as this isn't a complaint that fits their needs, no one has been defrauded. There shouldn't be a need for small claims assuming they give you the check.

Sounds so fishy. I don't know how it can be legally driven on the public road in Japan. I wouldn't want any business with that dealer to begin with. I'd find another dealer.

Ok, I think I may have some of the puzzle pieces that you're missing. Lustine got in 3 FR-S's. None of them are manual transmissions, they're all AT's. The white FRS with 2000miles, unless this is a huge coincidence, is probably from Koons. Koons Scion in Arlington (or maybe Vienna) has a white FR-S with manual transmission that they've been using as their demo car and they're offering $500 off sticker for that car and it has 2000miles on the odometer.

It appears that they did not sell the car out from under you, rather, all the cars that came in were automatics, so in searching for a manual transmission car, they found the white one at Koons and are attempting to trade with Koons...not sure how Japan/demo came into the mix, but why would they ship a demo car from Japan for sale in the U.S.

The information for allotment of cars for the VA area won't be released to the dealers until July 2nd; I've called every dealer from Richmond to Waldorf MD and there are only 2 MT FR-S's in the area, the one at Koons and on in MD that was just sold, but the paperwork hasn't been finalized.

I may actually have been the one that, "bought the car out from under you", except that I didn't. I had put a downpayment on the Firestorm FR-S when I was informed that it was an MT about 2 weeks ago however, refused the car when I found out it was an AT, and all 3 cars that came in for Lustine were AT's.

Hope that helps!
