Thanks, this is exciting. I can't wait.

Isn't the FR-S with a boxer engine with one of the lowest C of G, comparable to porsche..

Does the s2000 come close..?

Loved my S2000, but not very practical for a DD, loud, small, no backseat, etc. But I'm eyeing the FT-86 for a second family car. I think I'm going to drool over all you guys posts until the convertable comes out.

The vid was not a fair comparison... Drag race, we all knew the brz/frs would loose... But it does raise a question for single/married w/o children, or three car owner???? 15k buys an s2k or spend an extra 10k and get a brand new unmolested brz/frs??? Same drivetrain but no back seat, roadster(w/ hardtop available), possibly high mileage on the s2k... Honda did the s2k right when they first built it.... I do feel the brz/frs is slightly more practicle with better EPA, four seater, new car, and possibly better chasis...

Well i iust want to thank everyone for their opinions and facts... This decision just got a lot harder but i know now what side im leaning towards...

I enjoyed my AP1 very much with its bolt-ons and 4.77 gears, but like everyone else said, somewhat impractical. Especially since I stored it during the winter. My FR-S is everyting I wanted the S to be (minus the power) but to be honest, driving around town the FR-S is quicker. The F-20 has gutless low end and midrange where as this boxer seems lively under 3k rpms. I have not regretted my purchase after three days and 300 miles, I am loving this thing more and more. I actually WANT to drive this car everywhere! I found the S to be exhausting to drive and I often took my Civic if I ran errands.

Being an S2k Owner myself. Its the feel of the car overall that makes you want to keep the car or not. Its not the engine that drove me to love the s2k but the transmission and suspension.

I hope to get in a BRZ or FT soon during our exhaust prototype process to see how well it handles.

as a former 7th gen celica gt-s and g35 owner this post made my night..so true

as for the thread, I knew the s2000 would pull away but I didn't expect it to pull away that much. The AP1's lack of low end probably makes it less amusing than a brz in low speed corners but idk. I'd like to replace my fiancee's civic coupe with something a little more interesting and I'm trying to decide between something like an s2k, mr2 or just save up for a while and get a brz/frs

A lot of misinformation about S2k's
I had an 05 that I absolutely loved and regrettably totaled.
Mine had the F22 and for the weight of the car had no lack of torque, I've driven ap1's also

I averaged 27mpg

The way the car drove is what I fell in love with. The steering, the transmission, the feedback.

I'm looking forward to my BRZ. I'm not all about power. Ive had a gt3076r jetta and a 6262 mk3 supra. But my favorite cars I've had are the ones that offer the best driving experience.

the s2k was at the top of that list

P.S I track most of my cars

Bought my S2K new in 2002 and still fun to drive to this day. Wasn't a convertible fan but bought it because of its main attributes plus knew I could get hardtop for it. Tracked and canyon drove it. Big fan of FT86/BRZ and based on reviews so far, I plan on having one next to my S2K.
