It's funny how people say the 86 is so slow. I had a '74 911S that was about the same. More linear power output but that's about it and nobody ever called it slow. I think it's just because the current trend towards big HP has raised the bar as far as comparison.

morons that don't know how to drive call it slow. Anyone that knows how to drive understands. Even good muscle car guys get Japanese sports cars, knew some people that restored Mustangs and had a few classics mint, but still had an 82 Supra for fun because it is an awesome little car.

I have owned the 78 911sc since I was 21... So 23 years almost. It is a euro car and is thus a fair bit lighter than the federal cars and has a bit more power to boot.

I love them both. Asked the son which he liked better. Said the 911 for sound and the way it felt going through the corners and the BRZ for comfort and the heated seats

Lol I think a bunch of them are just kids that suck at driving manual and tried to race a minivan at a stoplight with the traction control still on. They get their doors blown off, then buy a Mustang and go on about how the FR-S was such a slow ass POS.

Then you read stuff from professional car reviewers who drive Porsches and BMW M cars for a living. They all talk about how the Honda Fit, Scion IA, Mazda 3 with the base 2.0L engine are all so lively and peppy with a manual transmission.

When you can get out of a Porsche 911 GT3, jump into a 106 horsepower Scion iA with a 6 speed manual and have nothing but praise about it's eager revving engine, that's a true enthusiast.

lol your name is vtech for crying out loud.

Btw i have never seen a forum where so many people post about trying to drive a manual. This is because its a great entry sports car for young people.

Stop being concerned with yourself that you take the brz being slow as a personal insult. Pretending the brz is not slow makes you look like a young kid with little experience.

Brzs magic is its chassis, the reality is 150 ft pounds of torque much less than a civic si thats why it feels slows, because it is. Look at the acceleration numbers and how it feels. The reality is the 2003 wrx was faster and much more torque. Look at an sti. It's slower than the car I owned 16 years ago. Look how much faster average cars are now. When you have a sports car that is slower than many sedans etc you certainly don't end ip calling it fast.

Anyways sorry when people say the brz is a great but slow car it insults your manhood but anyone who has been in a fast car knows this is true, and it's ok. There is room for a higher performance model and given the huge after market obviously a desire for it.

No the reality is people want to be considered a mans man driving a fast car and when others suggest the car is slow they are personally insulted because their car must be the best in everyway.

I guess if the deciding factor is if you are a dude that goes around telling everyone how fast your honda civic is then you will probably think the brz is quick and try to insult and diminish others because your experience comes from a civic not a fast car unless you are 16.

A car can thrill you in the corners and on acceleration, many decades have gone into providing thrilling engines for cars. The brz will never thrill in a straight line stock or fulfill being fast in anything but a corner. This is no reason to trash people who also look for this part of the equation.

Ps a 74 911 was incredibly slow. If indeed it was not slow and it and the brz are fast what do you consider a new 911 let alone a tt.

I am well beyond having to prove my manhood in any way but disagree that it is a "slow" car. No it is not a fast car either but when people use all the top trim muscle cars, sedans or things like the WRX as the benchmark they skew the whole perception of what is "fast". The average car has a zero to sixty between 10 and 12 seconds (thanks Google) so at that rate the twins come it at the fast(er) end of the scale. If we call everything "slow" just because there are faster cars out there then there is only one fast car and everything else is slow.
There are indeed "slow" cars out there but the twins are not one of them.

Wow. Did you even read my post? Where did I say an FR-S is fast? SMH.

My point, since it obviously went waaay over your head, is that if you know how to drive a manual transmission, even a 106 horsepower car can still be fun and peppy. A car that is peppy doesn't mean it's crazy fast. You actually thought I was trying to say the Scion iA with a 1.5L 106 horsepower engine is a really fast car too, didn't you?

I've actually said before that the FR-S is pretty slow for a performance car. It doesn't actually bother me. But for you to make those assumptions about me when you don't know me just shows what a fucking idiot you are.

And then you go on to brag about how your 16 year old WRX has more torque so that makes you the expert now....SMH
