You have no clue what I was talking about as you were not born for about twenty years after the era I was referring to. I wasn't comparing the old cars to modern cars. My references to Next were 1970s comments between the V8 and Japanese car crowds. There WERE no precision instruments (at least none the average person could afford). The guys that lived it understood what I was saying here but somehow you managed to twist it around to an insult against modern cars.

Oh and the "Starter motor" statement was how we implied that the import engines had the same power as our V8 starter motors back in the 70s. Which in most cases then was true.

I have own 14 Japanese cars and 0 muscle cars since 1991 so you don't have to convince me of which is better in the long run.

that's right. power went out last night and my headlights shine right through the garage door into the kitchen/living room. lit a bunch of candles and read comic books until I decided to go to bed. luckily the power came back on shortly after bed. it was getting hot.

restarted the X-Men/Factor/Force series X-cutioners Song, good stuff. next is either the Phalax Covenant or Age of Apacalypse.

I just laughed and left it right there. Didn't want to get reported to HR, one tends to be trigger happy on that.
Well off the top of my head:

Rice burner - This meant ALL Japanese cars not the sub genre that "ricer" (stickers for parts you don't have, ugly ass big wings, $20 fart can mufflers, etc) means now.

Jap crap - Most of the imports from the 60 and 70s were indeed crap compared to American cars of the time.

Motorized roller skate - Ever seen a 1970 Honda compared to a Dodge of the same year? Self explanatory.

Sewing machines - Yep those old imports sounded just like sewing machines. Buzzzzzzzzzzzzz

It may be hard for you young guys to picture but there was a lot of hatred pointed at Japan in the 60s and 70s. People thought they were taking all their jobs and the influx of the cheap Japanese cars didn't help.
Also hard for you to picture a time when there were about 50,000 American cars on the road for every import but that was the way it was. Honda didn't even start to import until 1970 and their whole sales by 1972 was 20,000 cars. Toyota had been around a bit longer but the sales numbers were not that high. All the others we have now didn't even exist in North America yet.

Didn't notice this until I switched to GT86 lights, they whine a lot when you turn them on with the car off

After three months of sitting on my ass getting fat, I went to the ROM, and then out for drinks with an old army buddy a couple weekends ago. I didn't realize just how out of shape I am. My legs were sore for the next few days and I'm dreading getting back into shape.

Never had a car with factory HIDs before, but if I had to hazard a guess, its probably due to the placement of the ballasts. They may be more buried in cars that have all that fantastic plastic covering the engine bay.

Use plastic and fancy in the same sentence one more time...
