Thinking about adding on a short shifter and shifter springs while they are in there.

These don't really have much to do with a clutch job and is quite easy to do yourself. Just an option.

That is right bang on what I would expect. Enjoy the new clutch!

Oh and see if you can get a new fork as well. Would be worth the extra money.

That's what I love about this car. Maintenance is very reasonable. Changing the clutch and flywheel on my cooper s took 14 hours of labour cause they had to take the front suspension out or something, cause that's just how it's engineered. Paid about $3500 in the end

My TOB gave out a few thousand miles ago, but the only sound it would make is when the clutch pedal was not engaged. As soon as I stepped on it, the sound would stop. Not very consistent with your issue, I know, but I'm not a car expert anyway.

Mine really started to go bad after 60k miles, for yours to last past 100k is incredible!

I paid about ~$1,100 for my clutch replacement & install, and that is at the "friend" rate. Granted, my replacement clutch kit was ~$550, so getting the labor done at $600-700 would be a good price.

I've had a throwout bearing issue 3x with my car. First time was the OE making depressing the clutch heavier than it really was. It didn't damage anything, and I only found out after I upgraded the clutch. The other two times were because the TOB that came with my south bend clutch was faulty and caused damage to the input shaft. So yeah...

Thought my synchros were going bad, so I took it into the dealer. The tech and I were able to replicate the problem I'd been having. He and the foreman diagnosed it further to be the TOB.

They said it was covered under warranty, and should be ready tomorrow. Why was it costing you guys over $1k?

Standard labor rates to drop a trans. I paid $1100 which included labor + replacement exedy clutch + mobil1 trans fluid.

Technically speaking the TOB is a wear item that isn't covered by warranty. Some dealers will cover them and others will not. If yours covers it then you have a good dealer.
