I think in VA and MD you get some type of sales tax pickup as well. It made it more worth it to do the trade-in versus dealing with a private seller.

Having just bought my own '13 at a similar price (21k miles), I'd say your chances are pretty good. I shopped for several months and all the BRZs I bookmarked were gone pretty quick.

Only thing that keep postings up a long time are things you don't have - rebuilt titles, lots of miles, modifications...

To maximize your return I would say try Craigslist. Sure, there's more risk but also a bigger customer base. Another poster pointed out that some people look just to look... but how many will do that if they can't drive stick? (Assuming yours is a stick)

Here in Socal, I haven't gotten a single legit person interested in taking a look at my car at $15k. The twin market has crashed... maybe it will bounce back once they discontinue making them. (IE sk2)

Well there's your problem. Drive it up to the Midwest and sell it quick for $18K. You are probably right smack in the middle of the biggest concentration of them in the country.
