Yeah why would drilling a hole be a good idea when you can easily take off the door panel? Worst case the dent can't be fixed and you need a new door anyways, but best case is you'll eventually need a new door from the hole rusting out....

That hole would take several decades to rust to any point where it was an issue. Drilling holes is very common when doing PDR but ya I agree they could have just pulled the door panel for an extra 1/2 hours of work.
