I agree with the performance observations and expectations. It's somewhat surprising that optimizations weren't made before launch. Also it seems like the various motherboard manufacturers are having a difficult time keeping their boards in stock. Seems like there could've been more anticipation of demand and stock levels in order to avoid this from happening. For example yesterday evening that Asus board was in stock and now it's out of stock again.

Going back to the performance, I was a bit surprised at the 1080p performance as well since that's the resolution I play at. I'm currently on a i7-920 though so I'm sure it would still be a huge improvement.

But yeah i7-7700k vs 1700 Ryzen is a tough call.

A lot of optimization still needs to be done before I feel like its tried and true.

I'd rather wait until then. Although any upgrade will be an upgrade for me at this point. Seeing the numbers versus my FX8350 just makes me sad.

See, now that's how you do beer snobbery

Recently I've been tending to get a sour, gose, or saison if there's one available. Had a Anderson Valley Blood Orange Gose last weekend and I had forgotten how much I enjoyed those. I also forgot that my wife likes it enough to steal a bunch of mine, but thinks they're too sour to order one for herself.

I think the poor planning of the board optimization is due to AMD keeping everything on lock down until the last minute possible. Just not enough time to get it running as they'd like. There's still bios updates going out right after the embargo.

Low stock and high demand seems to be the trend lately with the manufacturers. Same occurrence when the Nvidia's 10 series and when AMD launched the RX400s. All it does is drive up the price for the early adopters and they make more money. Ugh.

Yeah I like it a lot! We used to have a place called Dragas that made a good one too but they shut down recently.

My favorite IPA is Deschutes Freshly Squeezed. I spend a lot of time at Final Gravity in Granite Bay. It's a tap room that always has tons of different beers.

I went out to my BRZ this morning in the other garage to find that I had left the trunk open all week and the battery was dead. Was about to resignedly head back to my daily driver but remembered I had my portable jumpstarter battery on hand! I tell you, that thing has paid for itself already a few times over. Get one if you don't have one.
