I had to swallow two liters of gray peppermint cement on an empty stomach.

I left a large tip on the sink and checked out two days early.
But did the toilet have a convenient shelf?

I wish... I had only travelled as far as Copenhagen after the quacks concluded there were no significant holes in my intestines.
So, it was a standard shelfless European crappy crapper.

Exactly.

Also, I had celebrated the empty stomach ordeal and the successful photo shoot with a huge Indian curry which turned out to be almost as indigestible as the cement.

It was messy.

You went from empty stomach to barium to a large curry?

Well yeah, something like 12 hours after the hospital gig I was in a foreign country and hungry. So I just walked into a random place and ate what the waitress recommended.

My rather macho eating habit back in my travelling consultant days was what got me into that hospital in the first place.

I bet it was delicious, though. I remember post-hospital hunger.
