Valenti taillight hyperflashing

So I've had my Valenti tails for over a year now. Worked fine until today.

Left the house to go to the grocery store, taillights worked fine on the way there. Got back into my car, heading out of the parking lot and turned my right turn signal on, started hyperflashing out of nowhere. Not sure what could be the cause of this. Didn't do anything different to my car, or at least with the taillights in a while.

This happened at night and I can describe what happens to the taillight when I turn on the turn signal. The left taillight is normal, while the right side boomerang flashes on and off. The yellow arrow doesn't light up, only the brake light and boomerang does. Could this be a faulty relay (using the stock one) or a messed up fuse? Hopefully that its just my car that is messing it up, will try on a friends car and see what happens.

Probably neither. The relay works on the indicator circuit, it doesn't do anything to the brake or light circuit. A fuse would cause the lights to stop working completely.

If you think about it, the rest of the light is illuminating when you indicate so it sounds like an issue within the light, perhaps a short or similar. As this then bypasses the internal resistors that would explain the hyper flash. What happens when you leave just the lights on or brake? Is it the same when indicating with the lights off?

When the lights are on, the boomerangs stay on and the brake lights light up. Turning the turn signal to the right will cause the right taillight to blink like that in the video. When the lights are off, both brake lights work. Just the right turn signal doesn't illuminate.

Then that definitely sounds like an issue within the light unit.

Not totally sure what is causing it to hyperflash either.

Well the OEM relay hyperflashes when there is a drop in resistance to indicate a bulb has blown. If the circuit has shorted and is no longer passing through the resistor to the indicator then you'll get the hyperflash.
