I prefer the visible stats, to be honest. It makes more sense in CS, since K/D directly relates to team success (usually). If I'm having a bad game, I'll know it and everybody else knows it. It's fine. You can usually identify the weak link on any team, and you have to be accountable for your own level of play. Pubbing is its own thing, but I can live with angry russians and 12 year olds talking about vagina monsters.

In OW, there's not really a good metric or indicator for how much someone's contributing to team success. This leads to blame-shifting when things go poorly. Throw in troll picks by throwers, non-meta picks by non-trolls (who are actually trying, so you can't fault them too much), bad counterplay, dynamic queue MMR wonkiness, and smurfs - you've got a recipe for serious saltiness and confusion. There's not really useful positive feedback for the individual as to how they're doing, short of them recording/watching their own play (which isn't a function currently built into the game). There's also inherently broken game modes (2CP), and playcalling is still super vague. You also have folks who don't join team comms by default.

And that's just the weirdness in competitive! Quickplay and arcade also have their own issues. Namely, people play these modes for different reasons. You have competitive people who still only want to win, you have people trying new heroes, you have people trying the new meme strats, you have trolls, you have people trying to win lootboxes, and you have generally weird MMR matchmaking. I've been shit on for being not-meta in QUICK PLAY more than I've ever been shit on in competitive. I get that winning is fun, and I understand needing to win to get the weekly lootboxes, but it ends up being incredibly hostile at times, even when you're trying to avoid the ELO hell of competitive play. The only game mode nearly free of any toxicity is All Brawls, which isn't for me, because of RNG.

CS=Counter Strike
OW=Overwatch

I barely know the rest of the lingo since I don't really play them.

They seem to be taking about performance tracking in game and match making. Not sure what game though

Oh I see so the meta dorsal of the OC OW is discombobulated from whiggy in the K/D because they troll the wussits through the wingdings.
