I think you're right, almost 2 years and no loose bolt or rattle. The directions really have to be followed very precisely it seems. The TRD shifter is a great add on, installed incorrectly it is not. Those that bash it seem to not know how to follow directions and blame the part not themselves.

There must be a variation in the geometry of the shift levers. Again, I'm happy for you if you're one of the lucky owners.

Your local blacksmith didn't forge this by hand. Unless it works 99.8% of the time, it's a shit product.

So, the bolt on my quickshifter came loose (again) but this time it backed out enough that it wouldn't let me into 1st or 2nd gear. I confirmed this when I tightened the bastard and it shifted just fine. Because of this, I was late to work and had to have someone drive me there. I am perpetually disappointed in it and ripped it off this morning, replacing it with the Perrin shifter bushing. Shifts just fine now.

I applaud your commitment. Not kidding.

For anyone reading who also loses first/second, the trick is to pull up on the reverse lockout and carefully find the gates. They're still there, just have to nudge the lever over a little further.

Yeah I still have to really tug to get into 1st and 2nd without the quickshifter. So I'm going to see if maybe I can somehow adjust the reverse lockout plate.

Yeah, that adjustment's critical, especially to prevent wear of the selection mechanism over the long haul.

Get that shoulder adjusted so your shifter is nicely centered through the gates.

Can you elaborate on adjusting the shoulder? Do you mean the reverse lockout plate or something else?

Yeah, the shoulder on the lockout plate. That's all. Just take your time and tweak it so the gearshift stays centered through both first and second gear gates.

Put it in gear and feel how the gearshift has some wiggle room in the gate. Find that middle spot. It'll make sense once you start playing with it.

Thanks for the explanation. I figured it was that, but just wanted to make absolutely sure. Also with the Perrin shifter bushing, the stock shifter really is damn good IMO.

Right? Even with fresh stock bushings it's plenty tight. Any shorter and even more people would complain about not being able to shift into second when it's cold.
