First time thread, I understand being a purist and the need for performance but there are some of us that are not really looking for performance as much and just having a cool looking car. I live in an area where the roads are not great and just tired of the constant pounding and jarring. Is there a way or a suggested shock that may make the ride a bit more smoother or another way to make the ride tolerable?

Lightweight wheel/tire setup. The stockers aren't particularly heavy for an OEM wheel but they're also far from light. A nice set of RPF1's which are about the lightest budget street wheel there is and as light of a tire as you can find would help reduce unsprung mass and improve both your acceleration and your ride quality. Anything else you can do to reduce unsprung mass (i.e. lighter brake setup) is also going to help. For some reason, a front strut brace also is reported to help. I'm not sure how exactly this works but it has something to do with reducing chassis flex so you feel the bumps less. I would think it would make things worse when you stiffen up the car but people report that it helps.

You could also try custom valved shocks but that isn't going to be cheap. I'm currently running a stock car and I am going to be doing the lightweight wheels and strut tower brace as soon as spring gets here.

Go to a 16 inch wheel and tire. You can keep the same outer diameter but since there is much more sidewall it will soften the ride up quite a bit.

I installed Bilstein shocks on our Magnun and my in-laws' C6 Vette. In both cases, the ride *and* handling improved. I have not tried Bilsteins on a twin though.

This. And if you get lightweight wheels when you go to 16's, you get both the benefits of more sidewall and less unsprung mass working for you together.

It got rid of the rear bottoming out on road bumps and comfy AF compare to stock.

OE isn't KYB it's Showa.

Not sure what less aggressive damping rate means but I would think the Sachs should have less rebound resulting in a more controlled motion.
