Here is my engine mod list im considering or looking out for.

Headers
Overpipe
Midpipe
Axleback
Cold Air Intake
Cams
Polished Heads (slight port)
Legacy Sodium Filled Valves with a good 4 angle grind
Titanium valve springs + retainers
Higher AMP alternator (precaution for preventing distributorless ignition breakup in line with a HCDI)
HCDI + performance independent coil packs
Headgasket
High flow Low Pressure fuel pump
finish it off with a tune..

**notes** Didn't add ITBs to the mix because little unsure still about its streetable application. ITBs tend to get complicated via tuning, especially when its open element velocity stacks.

Sounds great! It is interesting to hear multi-angle valve jobs because most people don't seem to want to work on the head.

On another thread I wrote up a "dream list" of all the modifications I would do with no budget- head work was a big part. Port + Polish, multi-angle valve job, springs, rockers, cams, valves. Obviously this is nothing like the cost/power gain advantage of forced induction. I think if you are building a high-budget car a stage 3 head is an awesome option.

It doesn't seem to come up so much. If I do decide to really go for it, on top of a bolt-on supercharger (HKS), I would do cams and a port and polish... that's more then enough for me.

I forgot to put a number... considering the car only makes 160hp at the wheels (200 at the crank) my first goal will be 200 at the wheels. Well see if light weight exhaust and air filter can make it budge a little closer. I hope someone reputable makes an awesome intake manifold with bigger runners and Plenum.

I would like 240-250whp without having to strip out the car and keep the budget around 5K if possible. I think any more than that will not make it a reliable daily driver and I cant afford 2 cars right now. I hope this will be possible.

You are absolutely right, I wasnt questioning that. Just hopeful that the number is achievable.

I agree with you and am hoping for most of ths. The HCDI and auxillery equipment wasn't on my list. Not yet anyway. Is there any evidence to say that they will be required?

Originally I was thinking supercharger, but with the gains we're seeing it might not be required for my goals. I'm really waiting to see what comes in the way of cams, stroker kits and the like. That and every time I think I wanna buy a part, someone gives me a reason to wait to see what's next.

my plan is for intake, exhaust, map; plus 50 bhp or so

would like FI and 300 plus but I might wait for Subaru to shoulder some of the development cost

Up the power, weight flat, and you've the potential for an excellent track car

the great thing about distributorless ignition is that its spark is more accurate and precise because its directly controlled via ECU. It removes so many issues that distributors/wires/and IDI coil packs suffer from.

But when start adding power, especially 30-40-60% more than factory. We have to wonder, is the ECU keeping up with the ignition and power demands to provide the best spark?

In theory, the bad thing about distributorless ignition whe modding, is that its tied directly to the cars main electric source. So if the stock BRZ alternator amp for example, is a measly 40-60 amps you bet your ass your going to have bad ignition properties.

On cars today, there hasn't really been a whole lot of evidence that says that mid-high modded cars running on factory distributorless ignition systems, suffer from break up. But I dont want to ignore the possibilities.

So as a precaution on my mod list..i listed high amp alternator and a CDI box. Just for the peace of mind that no matter what power goals i have, my ignition system wont suffer from any unplanned elements that might occur of my journey for more performance.

after I finish the hi pressure fuel pumps I'll be going E-85 to see what can be made N/A,

after I have a reasonable N/A package I'll put on the turbo manifold and a well sized GT28 turbo Max HP ~375WHP maybe less depending on how the car feels, and how much tire the car responds well to,
