Thanks but no. It may not be a problem but let's not make broad generalizations about others' lack of observational skill.

Believe me. I look for it every time I'm at those higher speeds on closed courses. If my hood visibly fluttered even a little bit it would bug the shit out of me.

Not making any form of generalization since I didn't say not observing it I said not seeing it. It could be a small enough movement that it isn't readily visible but it is still moving. Some just move more that others and are more visible but it doesn't hurt a thing. Unless you have welded the hood shut there is going to be some lift. It is unavoidable with the way the mech works.

How would you phrase it?

I think it comes down to how "move" is defined. I would lazily say mine doesn't move but I would be technically wrong. And you know that's important to me. It's not just semantics.

Maybe if we focus on visible movement or visible deflection we would weed out the "mine doesn't move" group.

Even at elevated speed, I do not observe any visible deflection or flutter in my hood. I have seen that in other vehicles and I've adjusted plenty of latches and bump stops.

I think that if an owner observes movement AND finds it annoying then, based on personal experience with my sample of one, I think it's reasonable to look for, and try to take up the lash.

The question posed was "is this normal?". The answer to that is yes. If the question had been "can I do anything about it?" my responses would have been different. Mine really only does it when there is a gust or other burst of air so it does not bother me. It isn't going to fly open, warp or bend, or cause any other problems and as such is not an "issue" unless it bugs you.

On a related note anybody that has ever had somebody push the down button on a convertible while travelling at 80mpk knows the results are spectacular (and vey messy).

You may be onto something, there.

Maybe, just maybe, the folks that "see" their car's hoods shake ....... maybe it's their eyes or brain that is shaking and the hood is stationary .....

Especially the older folks .......

Oh, I see it. I also see that the edge of your hood is not flush with the fender line. :/

To tcoat's point, and I agree with him, it's a known and common "issue." Something about your hood looks funky though. It will definitely catch air if it doesn't close so it's leading edge matches up with the trailing edge of the bumper fascia. (is that what it's called? the bumper cover thing.)

Its called a bumper cover.

And that gap looks exactly like my MR2 hood on the highway. Min sits flush, no weatherstrips are missing, etc. Its kinda wierd but i just wrote it off as it being what it is

The video clearly shows the edge of the hood above the fender bump or whatever its called. I don't expect you to see the hood vibration. thats why I said look at the EDGE
