Six technicians come out to discover the cause of his complaint. It's unknown to them. They need to find out what it is. Experimentation is how they find out.

This might sound weird but I think you could try to ask Scion to make your payments while the car is being checked as a sign of good faith. See, your problem is actually an asset to Scion. If they cant have access to your car there will be a major problem that they know about but cant properly diagnose or fix. They WANT your car because they want to know about any major issues. Also tell them about this forum and the large audience this problem is being addressed to. Ask them to make a payment or two. Fighting the lemon law in court would cost them a lot more.

I thought they were diagnosing and fixing a problem, not testing a theory. Come on, pallie. If they are "experimenting" at this point in the game, then they don't deserve to sit at the adult table. |

Absolute horseshit experience you are having, very sorry for you I am. This would be a good time to suggest extended warranties for all of you owners...speaking of which, this would be an excellent opportunity to demand an enormously comprehensive extended warranty for FREE(for Whiteout's car).
I don't think you'll get them to make payments for you, just like when a car is stolen, you continue making payments until the day you are paid out by the insurance company. I am recommending a warranty based on the research I have done over the last few nights in regards to Subaru quality. JD Power ranks them below average for initial vehicle quality at 109 problems per 100 vehicles, while the industry average is 102. I cannot find the chart that shows the longer time period that many of the higher problem marques move down the list(improving), while Subaru still hovered in the below average area with little to no change in ranking. http://autos.jdpower.com/content/pre...lity-study.htm I thought people here said Subaru was awesome? Not according to any of the charts I've seen. Quite below average in both short and long term quality is what I see. Extended warranties for all. Some of us will blow through the standard warranty in 15 months!!! Yes, 15 months, while others like me will get a total of 26 months based on the mileage we put while having a pathetic 36k limit. |

@fistpoint: Having a warranty is all well and good, but it's pretty easy to deny a claim under a warranty, and many of these warranties have tricky exclusions and conditions. For example, you buy a warranty that says it covers shocks, then, when you file a claim for a bad shock, you get told, "Yes, we cover shocks, but not those shocks."
You are in control of everything until you give someone your money. |

Buying OEM parts seems to avoid the warning you give though, hopefully. Thanks anyway for the heads up/reminder. |

Edit: Good info in your link. Like Toyota and others, Subaru also manufactures in the US, and those stats include all vehicles in the US market, regardless of country of manufacture. I hate to say it, but I believe there are generally fewer problems with the Japanese manufactured cars. Built in Japan, as the 86 is, always goes in the plus column for me.

Good to know. There's the warranty issue. There's dealer discretion. And then there's this extraordinary situation of a new, much-hyped car that Toyota may want to make the extra effort for in order the save the reputation of the car and the company. Anything could happen. Or they could play dumb and leave us twisting in the wind. Like I said before, once you give someone your money, you no longer have the control. N.B.: My recollection is that, when Saturn had problems in their first year, they responded by taking every problem car back, no questions asked, and replaced it with a new car. Expensive tactic, but a good way to maintain public trust in a new venture. |
