Well, it makes an electric "whirring" noise under 19 mph for pedestrians. Beyond 20 mph it's game on.

I drove the Evo today. The 380 whp I got accustomed to felt like a rocket again.

Confirmed I'll get a $7500 federal tax credit for buying my $7k car. So that's pretty cool.

The gf is talking to dte and it sounds like if we pull the city permit, dte provides and installs a 240v charger. Hoping this turns out to be as good as it sounds.

On another note, I drove a Tesla Model S 90D last week. Talk about an amazing car!

Most people are reporting about half the cost of fueling an average ICE car. I'm assuming most people are charging overnight so off peak hours, so that would have to be factored in.

I have read an article that suggested future EVs might have to have an external noise maker to let people hear them.

Since the owner is the one with knowledge of this, I would hope that they would be more vigilant when they drive. That said, if the pedestrian isn't in a cross walk or a parking lot, it is legally their fault. I foresee a bunch of dumbasses getting hurt because they can't be bothered to pay attention to where they are walking, and then crying when they find out they can't just sue to make it all better.

Well shit. Maybe I'll get one too. I thought that was only for new cars.

Nice. My friend that has the Tesla 90D said that Tesla came to his house and installed a charging station for him in his garage. Included in the sale price.

The federal ones do only apply to new cars, unless something has changed in 2016/17. If they didn't there would be a consistent market for churning the cars annually for the tax credit.

Basically, there would be a big incentive to buy the car in December, sell it the next December and buying another used one.

The incentive goes to the "primary" buyer of the car which is the first non-dealer purchase.

"...these tax incentives aren't available if you buy a used electric vehicle."

Oh well.
