Job is down in Portland so its not still too far from home, only a 3 hour drive.

I'll give it a serious thought since I've very much enjoyed the area each time I'm down there.

Hoping my other buddy's place calls back soon since its only a 10 minute drive for me (or 30 minute walk) from home.

You'll be fine either way. Try crossing the country for a gig. Now that's an adventure.

Portlandia? Then you could live in Vancouver and commute with all the rednecks.I've heard Portland is very "hip and progressive," which automatically means I do not like it. I'm kidding, only passed through a couple times on my way to other places. But seriously though, it sounds like a good opportunity.

Portland is very similar to Seattle in my opinion so not much will change per say. Though I would have to live there to form a solid opinion about the place.

I do want to find my own place. Parents are still cool with me living at home and thus, saving TONS of money.

That's up to you. Some people can't wait to waste all their money on crappy apartments. I'm a super introvert, but living alone gets old fast. I hate going out and meeting new people. So I ended up just crying myself to sleep after a few months. Which is no fun. You'll probably enjoy Portland. It is similar but I'm pretty sure it will seem different once you start learning the city.

Spent my whole life in Eugene and then moved to Portland for my current job.

I was nervous at first, but a few days after I got here I was excited.
I don't live in Portland though, just outside of it a bit.
Eugene->Portland is a lot different than Seattle->Portland though, so it may not be as exciting for you.

Yeah, I'm super happy with my dark cave aka room for now! Along with saving money that would've otherwise went to rent and utilities. Only go out when car buddies want to hang out, else I'm happy staying home.

I'll see what is going to happen this next year. Planning to finish degree (couple of math classes) when I can finally find a day job so Portland may be out of the question for now (since school is also a 10-15 minute drive away).

Yep, moved a few times.

Blanchester, OH > Columbus, OH > Ft Benning, GA > Ft Knox, KY > Mannheim, Germany > Weinheim, Germany, Los Angeles, CA > Sunnyvale, CA > San Jose, CA > Danville, CA > Newtown, CT > Saint Louis, MO > Puyallup, WA (fell off the pumpkin wagon here 25+ years ago).

Moving can be a good adventure ......
