If you get an Evora or an Alfa, make sure you leave room in your budget for a second car while the first one's in the shop.

Am I the only one who just realized the new 718 Cayman and Boxster are no longer tiered in pricing?
Yes, I think everyone who is an enthusiast knew the Porsches were getting changes. The whole lineup was losing displacement and getting turbos, and actually the Boxster and Cayman were losing cylinders, going from flat sixes to flat fours, but I didn't know the Boxster and Cayman are priced the same. In fact, like most cars, the convertibles are more expensive than the hardtops, so the Boxster and Boxster S are over a grand more than the Cayman and Cayman S, respectively. To the uninitiated, the Cayman was made to fill the price, performance and luxury gap between the Boxster and the Carrera. And unless I totally missed something from the previous generations, that hasn't changed, so I was kind of shocked to see that the two different models are now equipped the same and priced the same. And it is odd. A Miata is a convertible. The Miata RF is the hardtop. The Mustang is the hardtop. The Mustang Convertible is the soft top. The Boxster is the soft top. The Cayman is the hardtop. Am I the only one who is blown by this change and this convention? I guess if BMW and Audi can have different models for their two doors and four doors then Porsche can have different models for their hardtop and soft top, but yea, kinda odd. |

I was a little less freaked out by this nomenclature because I realized the four door 911 is called the Panamera. Ok, they have different names for drastically different vehicles, ok, so the 4 door 911 is the Panamera; the hardtop Boxster is called the Cayman. Ok cool, I can live with that. Oh wait, there is a hardtop 911 and a targa 911 and a convertible/cabriolet 911, and they are all called the 911/Carrera. Omg I'm about to burst. ![]() To be honest I must have read the articles wrong because I thought they would make the Boxster a flat four turbo, the Cayman would be a lower displacement flat six and the Carrera would be a lower displacement flat six turbo, but apparently they bucked the three tier system. Not saying it is bad, but truly blowing my mind. |

my mind was just blown again. I was watching a video on the 7speed stingray... did you know it locks you out of gears? Apparently other cars do this too. WTF is going on with manufactures? Please explain to me please.

Current dream car is an M2. Last time I felt so attracted to a BMW was with the E92, and the 2 series is the perfect size.
Other options for me would include the Giulia Quadrifogoolio (however you say it) or the XE R-sport. |

I'd get another twin and put the rest towards my grandkids' college fund.

Democracy and brownie points rule in my house
Let me preface by saying my wife's last car was a Mercedes, she now drives 2016 Lexus IS 300 F Sport AWD and I try not to ask her for relations much anymore.
Her choices for my next car will be: Jackson Racing Supercharger for my 13 FRS New FRS with above supercharger from day 1 New FT1 ( Supra) New Cayman There are going to be some fun test drives in my future. Don't think the Cayman has room for my golf clubs. Good choices on all the cars mentioned BTW. |

I drove one of those a few years ago that was brand new at the time. It was a BEAST, but I felt like it beat physics into submission rather than use it as a dance partner.
The center tunnel pushed the pedals out to the left, gear shift felt like it was at shoulder level, the side pipes were covered but the cover was still hot enough to burn after hard driving, and the agressive diff would lock up too early and try to make the car go straight when powering out of tight turns. I could see it beeing better on an open track, but it felt like a bull in a China shop on an autocross course. |

It's easier on the synchros to go to 6th first then 7th, so I am okay with this. Anyways, back on topic, my answer for this thread is... Factory Five 818C with Ford 2.3 Ecoboost Actually I'd probably use a 2.0L Ecoboost or even a Duratec to save weight.I would say Evora, except I keep looking at the Evora and cannot understand how a fiberglass/aluminum car weighs more than the steel equivalent from Porsche...if it were more like 2700lbs, I probably would've made an idiotic financial decision and bought one already, because it looks so cool. I'm guessing you like British sports cars? I'm not into supercars to brash and loud.. the Exige is a better choice and I wouldn't go near a McLaren..
