OK I keep reading that title and can no longer hold back.

Personally I would go At-At

Driving a sports car with an auto is like eating spaghetti without sauce.

Well, that explains a lot because I do that all the time!

(unless you count butter and salt/pepper as sauce)

I think it still plays, you still get some flavor, but it's just not as exciting!

I don't get the manual elitism considering most if not all high performance cars nowadays come with paddle shifters standard. Sure a manual may be more exciting to drive to some but you can't argue with the fact that a human will never make use of the power of a modern performance vehicle. Hell, even sportbikes are doing away with the traditional manual transmission and have switched to quickshifters that take the clutch totally out of the equation except to get moving.

It's all in the name of fun. many of us derive no joy from driving a car with an automatic. I'm more interested in how much fun I'm having than accelerating or decelerating as quickly as possible. More driver engagement = more fun. It's all a matter of perspective I suppose.

Nah, it's like eating the spaghetti with the sauce; only you didn't grow the tomatoes yourself.

Nah there are no real tomatoes in Chef Boyardee but it's microwavable.

Even bicycles are doing away with the manual trim adjuster and going full electronic shifting with auto trim.

Most high performance cars (Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche, etc) come with paddles (DCT) because their target demographics demand it. You think Justin Bieber or Kylie Kartrashion can drive a manual? It's all about economics. Poseurs can't drive manuals.

As for quicker track times. Seriously .... how many people really track their cars? A very small %. I'll take the extra steps that a manual requires over a quicker track time every day of the week.
