List of cars that check nearly all the same boxes that you should buy before even considering dropping the sort of coin that a Focus RS requires:

- Chevy SS
- Focus ST
- Fiesta ST
- Golf R or GTI
- Last gen WRX/STI hatch
- EVO X

The RS is a great car but they're being marked up a lot and they're grossly overpriced, even at MSRP. They also won't be worth jack squat in a few years. They're a great car but an absolutely horrible purchase unless you're literally so rich that you just don't care.

This is probably the best beater Civic ever made and probably handles better out of the box without any trick electronics than all those modern lardarses on that list.

LOL I wondered how long it would take for this to turn into the typical "I really like the XXXX regardless that it is an ancient relic" thread. Must say it took longer then I thought.

OP get one of these. It never let me down.

Have you driven a Ford lately? (Wasn't that a commercial at one point?) They have come a long LONG way in the last 10 years. I once would have agreed with you 100% but not anymore.

If you look you can find an FR-S for 16-18k with about 30k on the odometer. Put 5k down and your payment will easily be under 300/month, then, spend the other 5 powerrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I was referring mostly to their sports cars. The only Fords that I consider real sport cars are the GT350R and the Ford GT. The other offerings (Mustang GT, RS,etc) are the every day lesser cars. Even the Shelby with the SC was more of a light to light car. As others have opined ... the RS is powerful, but I question the hatch design and relative high center of gravity vs. a Twin.

As for other Ford products. I love their trucks. I used to own a F350 Superduty with the turbo diesel. Effortless towing. One of the best vehicles I've ever owned.

Looked great with big ole swamp tires, lift kit, gun rack and confederate flag. Got rid of it because I sold the boat and I was getting tired of the notes on my windshield commenting. "Big Truck .... Small Johnson".

Why not have both?

Those cars are very different. Go drive both and buy the one you like. I would buy a used BRZ and then mod it though. Why take the depreciation hit and warranty doesn't matter if your just gonna throw parts at it anyway

Buy a BRZ and boost it. It is way more satisfying to own

Go test drive things, find something you like, take a few days to think about it, decide you want it, go sign some papers.

Although if you're not after AWD, want to spend RS money, and decimate Cars & Coffee try one of these
