well, this is good news. Aside from Tcoat saying it's bad news bears for an only car.

I have a 2006 mini cooper now. Storage wise, mini holds less. It has super tall interior height however, and I can move up the rear seats to fit petite ladies in the back. I only ever drive petite ladies in the backseat for short runs. Clubs, etc. The rest is all me or passenger.

The trunk without the seats down is more luggage space than I have in the mini cooper. It also is flat vs vertical space. My mini can fit some luggage and bag things in trunk well, but it's stacked on top of one another, can get odd.

I dislike putting down the seats for transporting things long as I fear accidents and the contents of car smashing people. However, things like cross country skis or a snowboard do not fit into almost any car without the seats down, or a ski slot, which is the same thing just looks neat.

I am single and my girlfriend would be my wife possibly one day not long from now. I figure she likes SUV's, she wants a Subaru forester or outback, all hooked up. I guess that will be her car, she has no car at the moment. Probably a nice combo having a awd subaru + brz. Be a while to save for that all though.

Holy shit dude, yes you bought the wrong car.

Besides the snark remark, this is a cheap "sports" car made by Toyota with a Subaru engine. Both companies are well known for relaiability. As of yet I have had zero problems so far, and it's my daily driver been going 60 miles round trip for the last 2 years. It's fine.

The only issue I have with this car it's it's cheap interior and odd seats/head rests (and the local douchebag fellow owners) Besides that I grown to accept it. (Not the fellow owners thought.).

there are SOOOO few owners of this car. I can drive 26 miles from long island to manhattan and then back 4-5x and pass 10,000 cars and never see one. I saw ONE parked in about 6-7 months. Five on the road since the summer. I drive a lot around long island and the city, never saw one until I really started to look for them, but thats only a few. Now, the youtube videos of brz/frs owners actually made me really really second guess getting the car as the thought of one of these morons coming up to me to talk would make me want to commit suicide.

It seems to be a pure winning combination of car parts and simple design. I like the suggestion not to mod it being that it is my only ride. That would be a bummer if I modded it at some point and was stuck for a week. The e85 tune sounds neat though. That and the headers, plus maybe some investment in ultra lightweight wheels would probably extend the joy of the car after it goes out of warranty. Seems to be a magic fix for the car, the e85 gasoline one.

I wish they would go the way of Mini when it comes to interior. 10 years and 172,000 miles later, my interior looks still beautiful and near original. I am a big fan of Leatherette. I detail it a lot, and it lasts forever it seems. Alcantara seems to the rage now, so the challenge will be in figuring out how to clean that stuff. Premium seats probably will last a lot longer which is sad. (for someone like me that is into detailing, their fabric seems quite strong).

Yeah, honestly about 90% of the 86's on YouTube are driven by asshats thus I understand where you are coming from. Had I only knew the level of douchebags ricers that are fellow owners, I would have bought a different car.

It's still a good fun car, but really it's all for looks. In the long run I don't plan on keeping this car once it hits 100k miles. I have my 91 MR2 turbo that blows the brz out of the water in every way. (Well minus working on it). Besides that, the amount of money you want to drop in it to mod it, it's better just getting a better powerful car from the get go. Power wise you'll be at factory hp specs vs a modded hp BRZ.

I've moved my digital piano using my FR-S, and fit multiple ski/snowboard bags with a passenger. I've taken the roommates grocery shopping (plural, so they had to go in the back seats), and I could fit everyone's grocery bags in the trunk. This car is HUGE. I'm going to miss that part when someone finally buys it off me.

Whether your have 1 car or multiple, this will almost always be the case. Heck, I have the extreme ends, an FR-S and a Suburban with 3 other cars in-between and there are still occasions where I have to work around not having the right vehicle for the mission.

Not my only car but only car I normally drive. Works good foe me. Even carried 2x4s with the seat folded down, which I think is one of the handiest features of the car.
But I'm retired, no kids, living full time in a RV Resort. So I probably don't count.

You mentioned every scenario, plus Lunatic's 2x4's, that i would need.

I always wanted a light duty full bed 4 cylinder pickup used as a spare car.

One of the best little vehicles I ever owned. Would grab another in a heartbeat if I could find one. They really don't make anything like this for the North American market anymore.

Yea, sadly even with Ford bringing the Ranger back to the US (its still sold elsewhere) there will probably never be a true "small" truck available in the market again, most likely because it would have even less a market than the 86.

Folks just expect way too much crap in their trucks these days.

That and it would just simply have to be bigger to meet all the safety requirements now. The little Datsun was a workhorse and I used to haul loads way over capacity all the time but it was also a deathtrap in any form of collision. Probably be pulped if you hit a good sized animal with the thing.
