daily driving a manual is a piece of cake. Rush hour or not. I live, work and drive downtown; every car I have ever owned is a manual. If you are good at it, you won't have any issues.

And the starting from a stop on an incline is another poor reason. Learn to drive your car and you will have no issues. I daily drive a 2011 STi, which comes with hill assist. dumbest thing around; i turned it off within a day. Once you have a feel for your clutch's engagement point, no hill, mountain or slope should give you trouble.

ultimately, it comes down to this: do you want to drive a manual car or do you not care. "driving it in traffic" is not a con, that is the whole thing. If you do not like to drive your manual car when other cars are around you do not like to drive a manual car. The only person you need to satisfy is yourself.

Ups and downs with both, if I had it to do over again even with my bad knees I would still but the manual.

Hey man, thanks, but tons of people do it. I generally avoid congested areas and I also prefer to drive in England...

My experience has been quite the opposite looking at sports cars over the years. The auto models are much less expensive.

Should I go AT or MT?

Sure the auto is not as fast since you cant dump the clutch but shifts damn fast for a slush old school box at 200 ms.

I'll be nice if Aisin or ZF would put an 8 speed on the next generation.

I like to think they went with MT and grew insane with their newfound pleasure of driving it.

I've taken my car to a lot of local dealers and the most I've ever been offered was $19k. My car was $29k MSRP. I can't imagine an auto having worse resale than that, lol.
