The dome light in my FR-S killed (the original 4 year old) battery in less than 6 hours to the point the car wouldn't start. It charged back up, but I replaced it anyway because it was starting to drag so it was just a matter of time.

Some of it is going to depend on the age of the battery, the temperature, etc, but yes it is very possible a standard incandescent bulb would drain it that fast.

As to the questions about the car turning off the lights, the 86 does not do that. It does (after 20 minutes) turn off the headlights. There was a whole thread about that in 2012 because the sticker indicated "automatic headlights" and there was a lot of discussion about what that meant/why didn't we have them/class action suit to address the "missing" (but actually just misunderstood) function.

Killed my battery by leaving a dome light on over a weekend, did a ~45 minute drive after jumping to put some juice in it. That was when the car was ~2 years old and it happened 2 years ago, OE battery still going strong after 4 years and going dead once after that (not dead dead, just not enough juice to jump the car, sat in a parking lot listening to the stereo).

It started struggling this December, topped it off with distilled water and it's back to fighting fit, just hit 4 years old this week.

I think leaving something on in the car isn't just 'one thing on' anymore, if there's a dome light or a stereo the cars running other auxiliary systems without you knowing, the juice gets sucked out pretty fast in the conquest for more creature comforts while maintaining a modest battery.

I always love when people think they can go after the companies for things like this. My father tried going after a dealer once because the tires on his truck were not what the brochure said they would be. He figured he was going toe get at least a free set of tires if not a free truck because it was "false advertising". He found out quickly that they have their asses covered for such things! A five second look at the fine print tells you that everything may not be as shown.

Not at all surprising, considering a 30Ah battery at 12V nominal only has a total capacity of 1.3 MJ, so even a small drain like 20 or so Watts total (~5 ECU, ~5 Security, ~10 bulb) would completely eat up that battery in 18 hours

That being said, when working on my FRS in my garage I have forgotten trunk or door open and drained it many times too
