I will be wearing one within the week.
Well done, BTW, shifting from curbs back to transmissions so smoothly.

Get the manual, you won't break it, and it's the best way to have the car and get the most out of it. You'll be spoiled because it has one of the best shifters out there right now, but the clutch does leave some things to be desired. Still, easy car to learn on, and once you k ow how to drive a manual (and a manual sports car, at that) you can drive anything.
Unless you have a trick left knee, don't let traffic jams dissuade you. Given the choice, go manual.

My take is that it was a stunt gone wrong with unanticipated consequences. 1. Stunt rider is supposed to ride through some breakaway device 2. They never practiced or even discussed a contingency plan. 3. Somehow the flaming wall fails and sticks to the hood. 4. Driver panics, lays hard on the brakes. 5. Sees the stunt guy lose grip. 6. Thinks "Oh, shit!" and makes the critical bad decision to let go of the brakes.

MANUAL
PROS - More fun during spirited driving, can make boring driving more interesting. - More control over the engine/revs - Get respect from strangers on the internet - You can pretend you're Takumi/Dominic Torretto - You can roll start if the battery is dead and you don't have cables - Cheaper to buy, better resale value (For this car anyhow). CONS - High incline hill starts - Stop start bumper to bumper traffic can be tedious - Worse fuel economy - More temptation to drive like a hoon AUTO PROS - Anyone can drive it. This is a big one, because some day you're going to be in bed on a cold morning and your car is going to be blocking someone in your family in the driveway. If that person can't drive manual then you're in for an ordeal. - You can drive and eat at the same time much more easily. - Better gas mileage - Easier to launch - Easier for traffic commute CONS - Less control over engine/revs - People on the internet will hurt your feelings. - More expensive - Heavier usually - Can't roll start - Can't do a sweet burnout - Can't heel toe or clutch kick |

I'm one of the few who do have an AT; honestly you can't go wrong with either one. Sure, manual makes you more engaged in your driving, but there's literally no difference between AT and MT performance wise. As a matter of fact, you shift faster using the paddle shifters on an AT than most people can driving manual. The point of MT is to control which gears you are in, but the AT on the 86 lets you do the same in M mode and with the paddle shifters. Like someone said before, the AT in the 86 is not the average piece of shit AT u see on the average car. Paddle shifters on this car are very responsive
and if you ever feel like chilling or if you're stuck in traffic, put it back in Drive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Might just be me but I always imagined the AT more time attack focused and the MT more drift focused

Be interested to see some hard numbers. My statement came right from a knowledgeable sales manager at Scion but he did have any actual numbers for me.
