Your swap is awesome BTW, think I forgot to mention that.

I was under the impression that OFT actually makes the tune safer? at least for the direct injector seals

I'm really new to this forum so I may have just read one too many bad comments about the OFT, didn't stop me from picking one up from the classified section. Haven't had the time yet to tool with it though.

More frustrated at the OFT because I'm pretty sure that is the reason for the blown engine.
I don't think it was fuel starvation, could've been from running lean due to the tune or lack of flow from the drifting.

I never really liked the FA20 to begin with but decided since it was already in the FRS that I would learn to drift on it and swap at a later date which ended up coming a lot sooner than expected.
Im not affiliate with them, but why blame oft? What about those who have it and track/abuse their cars more than you do and not blowing up? Im very curious person, sorry

OFT does have the fix implemented to keep from burning up the DI seals. Ran OFT for a long time, even when turbo. 0 issues. I actually gained issues when I switched to ecutek, still can't figure out what the issue is either.

Nice build, man!
And a scary story about blown engine. My car also close to 30k miles and I drift it a little. Not often, 3-4 events per year, but now I'm afraid to do it. Skid pad that I'm usually go to is like 180 miles away from my house and it will be a pain to tow car back in case of engine failure

Idk I've heard of other people blowing their motors NA with or without OFT and I'm not saying OFT IS the reason for the blow but if the FA20 was reliable then the only other thing it could be is the OFT.

I'm actually quite curious on why a beams 3sge was chosen to be swapping in instead of something more modern. Maybe cost is one thing, but if you put in that much effort, you might as well drop in an f22c with better torque. Not hating, but I honestly think people give the 3s more credit than it really deserves. From what I recall isn't the block still a hunk of cast iron even on the most modern BEAMS variant? Yeah, it's strong, but it's not very efficient.

I had a car that ran with a 3sgte and even if that was in North America, finding parts for it was a bit tricky. Working on it was even worse. I can only imagine what it's like trying to source parts for an engine that never made it to north american soil. I'd sooner throw in a k20a if I had the choice and had to put in that much work, because i-vtak.

If someone can shoehorn this into an MR2 spyder, someone should be able to shoehorn this into an FRS. Again, not hating, just genuinely curious.

I mean, I applaud that you got a BEAMS in this thing. Truely remarkable.

So I'm curious? What about balance? How has driving changed if any? Can you feel any difference? Also can you weigh it? Do you gain or lose? I suppose you lose weight! But being a lump of iron maybe not! Also if possible, can you see if the distribution isn't better too. Maybe like 52front to 48rear?

After I brought it home, I decided to take off the body panels that were in the front of the car since I wanted space and not to damage them since it would be in the garage for a while.

Here is ta picture of the transmission the night I removed it.

The next morning I took pictures of most of the FRS parts that I was planning on getting rid of.

How the engine sat when the transmission was disconnected.

Engine removed.

Then I decided why not paint the engine bay since mostly everything is removed.
Now that I look back at it I should have removed the AC lines before painting the bay.

To be honest I didn't do such a good job at painting the engine bay..
I think it looks decent for just a few cans of engine enamel spray paint haha.
I also began to run out of paint after a couple of coats and it sucks because I couldn't find anywhere that stock the specific paint I used.
I believe they stopped producing that color or something.

But anyways I took off the coils to clean them up and fix one because the collar was seized.

Took some pictures just messing with new lens on my camera.
