Just some throwback photos I found on my old One Plus One while looking for photos related to the engine swap.
Posting because I miss this and the way it used to be setup before the FA20 pooped itself lmao!

After I got the car towed back to my place we decided to go back to the drift event and spectate for the rest of the night.
Made me feel bad that I missed most of the main event since it had such a good turnout and really good drivers.

But anyways, I thought that I would put the car pretty much back to stock engine wise even though it didn't have many engine mods.

I made sure to reflash the ecu and unlink the OFT tablet from my car first before I did anything else.

The only other things were to put back the intake sound tube, reinstall the oem oil pressure sender since I had an aftermarket oil pressure gauge, and remove the Radium Engineering catch can.

Pushed it into the garage and started working on it.

Then after I got it cleaned up it was off to the dealership.

Did the dealership deny your warranty? I always wondered the story of this car after seeing ambush's videos

Yes the dealership denied my warranty. The car had less than 28,000 miles on it at the time.
I had originally bought the car at Toyota of Deerfield Beach before I moved to Orlando and it was the first time that I had taken it to Toyota of Orlando which may have something to do with them not wanting to take my warranty.

Here is a picture of when it got dropped off at the dealership

Some pieces of the FA20 that I found on top of the engine while the car was at the dealership

After about 3 days I believe, they said that they would look at the engine and I was told that the warranty was voided because of "aggressive driving" and that they saw in the computer that the traction control was off and the rear wheels were spinning at 20mph in 2nd gear.

I don't think that an engine should break under those circustances to be honest. The engine wasn't over reved and I always maintained it very well.

Oil was changed with Amsoil synthetic every 5k miles even though its rated for 15k. I did an oil changed of the engine, transmission, and differential the day before the drift event. Before the engine blew I also changed the trans and diff fluid two times.

I've had problems with this engine that were common such as idle drop and coolant loss. One time I brought it to the dealership for an oil change before I went on a road trip from South Florida to Texas and the dealership installed a wrong oil filter which I noticed since there was oil all over the engine bay. When I brought it back to the dealership after the trip they said I put on a wrong filter...

I called corporate and they kept telling me to call the dealership. After a ton of back and forth calling they continued to deny the warranty.
I went to the dealership and they told me it would be $10,000 to swap in a used FA20 with 15K miles from a crashed FRS.
Obviously I said no since that's practically half the price of the car.
They charged me labor $ for the time that was spent "diagnosing and taking apart" the engine.

Here is what it looked like when I came to pick up the FRS.

So we loaded it onto a tow truck and it went back to my place to begin the engine swap.

They show you the "evidence" of abuse driving? Really, spinning tires 20mph on 2nd gear?

Didn't know our ECU was logging that kind of history... I've heard it counts the times you over rev... damn.

No all they said was the "freeze frame" shows that.
Yeah that's really stupid, its like not even a burnout more like just accelerating and spinning the tires a little from 1st to 2nd gear.

Well I looked into the warranty and it did state that aggressive driving or abusive driving would cause them to deny warranty and I thought that the money it would take to hire a lawyer wouldn't be worth it.

Toyota has a lot of money and the money used to get a lawyer and go through the process would be more expensive than swapping the engine out.

The dealership can probably afford better laywers then most owners can.
