Nope. Dont trust going out on major holidays really. My town isnt safe and going to the city would be hectic and Uber is stupid expensive for NYE.

Probably go to a friends house and just hang out.

Aww, don't throw your back out, at least recycle it. It may be worth fixing too, they usually are.

Chronic L5/S1 inflammation here, best I can do is manage the pain, and that's mostly just daily yoga now. So easy to hurt my back so I can't move just by taking a careless step.

Plans are to sit in front of a fire sipping something delicious and reading.

Hope the back heals quickly.

I remember the exact moment I popped/ripped the very bottom disc. What is that, L1? Picked up a TV at least twice, maybe three times as heavy as I should have lifted. the injury happened when I rotated my torso to place it onto a counter. That was in '93.

I also need to drop some tonnage. Core exercises help but my gut throws everything out of whack.

Wait, it is the new year. I've never made a resolution. Maybe I can keep it. I need to resolve to perform a process, like walk a specific distance at least a few times a week.

Losing weight is 80% diet. Wish it wasn't. Picking up heavy stuff is easy. Eating good is hard

Yeah, same spot - L(umbar)5 S(acral)1 - mine isn't torn, just sorta wedge shaped and inflamed. Officially dianosed as arthritis. I just woke up one morning and couldn't get out of bed, though probably had overdone things the day before. Still have to be careful working in the shop or on the car, because it's the day after that's brutal. I probably carry a little more weight than I need, but that's what age does... and I'm still considered rather thin so...

Weird as it sounds, a proper yoga class may be helpful for you, but most teachers are crap. You'd probably do a fair bit of modification to ensure you don't make the injury worse, and sometimes to work around the body mass, but that's not unusual. Strength and flexibility you find... you just need to bring patience, willingness to batter your ego a bit, and the ability to breathe. I'd recommend Iyengar if you can find it, its origins are in finding a system that worked with injuries.

There was a while it took me 10 minutes to tie shoes because I couldn't reach without pain - that's what got me going on the daily routine, because even 1 pose waiting for the shower to heat up fixed that.

Alright, then that's what I need to do. Time to monitor my caloric intake.

Gotta make this a process and own it.

Yup my thinking exactly..

All I'm losing out on is the convenience factor since it's somewhat of a drive

My friends are die hard anime fans and this is sufficient enough to communicate while pissing them off at the same time.

About 20% should be from fat, 40%protein and 40% from carbs. If you can find a place that can measure your body fat/muscle they should be able to help you dial in your numbers. I go to a Max Muscle(over priced supplement store) and they have a device that uses electrical pulses to measure resistance in your body and derive volumes from that. They then look at the changes and tell me more carbs, more fat etc. Calories as a number isn't with a lot as 2000 calories from fat will make you fat but 2500 calories from a good diet will make you lose weight (rough example). I've been lifting and attempting to get a good body fat percentage for a couple years and, speaking from experience, counting your macros (carbs, fat, protein) has made the biggest differences by far than any changes in training. It's truly the only way to effectively decrease your body fat below 20%ish
