Hard to tell, but you are trying to be funny right? In case you did NOT know, Toyota only made about 300 of those. I own a rare collector car very much in the spirit of the FRS of which only 8000 were ever made and 40 years later you can still buy one in top condition for $25-30,000. So, to be "rare" your have to be "Really Rare" before it counts. If you want to know where the FRS is going to be value-wise in 50 years or so, just look at the Datsun 240Z since it would be the most comparable to the FRS niche. |

"Hard to tell, but you are trying to be funny right?" Well, yes. (Possibly my Rochesterian humor, or just me, somewhat dry).
Yea, I would expect by now, the Z would bring more than current bids on this car: http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-datsun-240z-20/ Edit: 12-20-16. Sold Today 1973 Datsun 240Z for $25,500. This car would have cost around $4000. new. With inflation to 2016, that's about $22,261 in today's dollars. So it sold now for a little more than it's new car price. Though surprised I am, what some Porsches from 60s to 80s are bringing right now...really seemingly big money. Last edited by ToySub1946; 12-20-2016 at 05:35 PM. |

There are currently millions that do indeed do their own car work but the majority do not. Why should they fix their own car, toilet or lawnmower? Are there not professionals for these things? Have there not been mechanics, plumbers and handymen for all of history? It isn't even a matter that people "can't" do it but many just have better things to do. To look down on people because they do things themselves that you do is just foolish. Do you not pay anybody to do anything for you at all? For the past 10 years I have paid people to do things that I used to get paid for and that is just the way it is.

The distractions were the same only the medium in how we received them was different. Whole cities would shut down for TV shows or sporting events since you only got one shot to see them when there was no way to record it for later or pull it up on demand. Commuters (and drivers) had their noses buried in newspapers and magazines instead of phones so still did not even acknowledge each other's presence. All in all pretty much the same as now. When I got out of the Army I worked in a hardware store for a couple of years. It was a very popular one that drew people from all around the city. I bet that less than half were actually doing the work themselves though. Many were buying materials for others to do the task or looking for somebody to do even the simplest thing for them. I more than doubled my income by doing "handyman" type jobs. Some of these were as simple as putting a new flapper in a toilet for $5 or as complex as running all new plumbing or wiring for a project for several hundred. In many of these cases the customer had more than enough skill to do the task but they just didn't want to have to do it for one reason or another. Now I am the guy walking into a store and asking if somebody can do the work just because I don't want to. The others had no clue and had no reason to want to learn since there was people to do it for them. Ability and desire are two totally different things and should not be confused.

Yea, I find myself doing this as well. I have definitely moved over the years from a do-it-yourselfer to a pay-someone-elser. There isn't much I can't do around the house, it's just at some point I'd rather just get it done, and MomHawk is much happier when it gets done in one day what would take me a month of weekends to get done by myself.
