What's blocking me when I downshift from 6th to 4th

Spread the wealth. It's not necessary to engage the clutch in each gear, just rake through all the gates if you're not double clutching.

Ahh. I suppose that does make sense. I suppose I could at least pop it into an in between gear without releasing the clutch to help things along (or maybe this is a good excuse to practice double clutching so that I can say I'm good at it, lol.)

I used to just pause skipping gates for upshifts but @CSG Mike shamed me out of that habit. Old dogs can learn new tricks. Hell, for that matter you schooled me big time with the no-clutch-double-clutch. I never would've considered it.

I still lift a little, though.

Yeah, that was my thought. "I could just give it a second to slow down," but I guess, if anything, that would only work in one direction anyway... shit. Maybe after 40,000 miles that's why I'm starting to have a weird issue shifting into 5th, lol.

After 1000k mile break in the first thing I did was do a 6>4 downshift doing around 60mph. Never had an issue doing that. But like others have said it's experience. It's been a smooth rapid shift when I do do that. Typically for passing.

this was why the trans was apart, not what you want to see when you crack the case open.

Well, that just sucks. Is it all fixed up now?

those pieces came from the first oops at road America.
we thought it might be a bad gear set so we replaced the trans with an other one.
well it happened again at mid ohio, the original design was for 340 hp.
with multiple engine changes we are short of 500 hp.
we now have taken out about 50 ft/lb of torque.
we also have installed a cooling pump and radiator and cryoed the gears.
as with any race car there is always a weakest link.

On a related note. I just watched a youtube video of an FRS on the track with a dash cam. The guy was coming around a left hand corner and downshifted too far. He might as well have pulled the e-brake. The car immediately slid to the left right into the wall.
