Installed a BRZ STi lip (video)

Could not have done this (nearly as easily) without the help of johan and the DIY he put together just recently. Many thanks for that as it made the process a whole lot easier.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113165

I recorded the install of my own STi front lip (under-spoiler) using the DIY instructions. I think these lips look great on the car, really love how it contrasts with the blue and other black grill/bumper parts!

Since the previous years' STI lip fit on a '17 (I saw someone had put it on), can we assume that the '17 STI lip fits on earlier year BRZ's?

Where did you hear/read that? I don't believe that is true. The instructions for a 2016 or older BRZ do not work for a 2017 BRZ (the mounting holes are in different places).

Right here - the dealer installed an older STI lip on a 2017 BRZ by mistake, so obviously the earlier version fits on the 2017.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113637

Even if the mounting holes are in different places, all you have to do is attach the lip ends at the fender (uses the same mounting holes there), support the lip, and just match-drill all the other holes.

So what that thread above tells me that the width between the little wings at the end of the older STI lip and the 2017 one are the same, which means that the bumper cover width is also the same. Since the bottom of the bumper is flat, as is the top of the lip, it looks like the 2017 lip will fit 2016 and earlier model cars.

Ah, very interesting! I was following that thread and missed that reply where he found out it was a pre-2017 lip. So it looks like the new 2017 lip looks a bit different but the previous year one still fits.

Seems like it might, based on the other findings. But, someone would have to test
