Underside Photo Request

When giving my car a nice pre-winter bath, I noticed that my bumper definitely seemed quite loose near the black plastic half. I confirmed that this was abnormal by admittedly feeling up another man's car's behind in the parking lot.

ANYWAYS, I looked under neath my car as best I could without having to put it up on jack stands and noticed a small anomaly. Can someone please post a photo of what the underside of their rear bumper looks like? Particularly where the little arms that are held in by the little rivets (highlighted in red) connect to. I looked under my car and they go to some metal portion however I'm not sure if the bend there is by design and want some verification.

"I confirmed that this was abnormal by admittedly feeling up another man's car's behind in the parking lot." Not going there, sorry.

There should be a somewhat flexible, >vertical plastic piece<, one each side of bumper, near tailpipe, in area which you show. Each piece goes up and under, to body of car...for slight strengthening of that area.
Note: There is no strengthening behind light, just those two pieces each side, near tailpipes.

Appears you may have aftermarket muffler, maybe those plastic pieces were left off for installment of muffler, or forgotten to be reinstalled ?

Possibly photo you show is a stock photo and not your exact vehicle ?

It is a stock photo. It was snowing out here earlier and was pretty dark, so I didn't get a good photo. Can I get a picture of both sides if it's not a problem for you? Just want to verify. That seems to be where it is loose. Also not really a car guy, what would I call that piece of metal where those plastic things are connecting to?

I'd say it's number 7 in this tech illustration...and note either side is same part number.

On the phone, a parts person would make sure you get the proper clips needed, to retain the piece.

Appears to me that you'd need three parts numbers X two each of them. Six pieces total.
Left and right are identical.

Edit: You might want to check it out in the spring, Like April 2017, maybe May, after the shitstorm of salt is over with. Been there, done that.

Yeah, that's definitely the part I'm talking about. I'm going to check it out tomorrow when the light is better. That part looked bent, I think someone backed into me and drove off some time.... Guess I'll see what I can do.

Hey man I'm actually having the same problem. To the extent that the rear bumper is causing noise above 65 MPH. For now I have bungees on the underside to keep it snug and it seems to work well enough....crappy plastic pins.
