Keep in mind they have a massive marketing department that spends millions figuring out what the majority of people want. So this is what they determined most buyers are looking for and that is what they made. It isn't some little group forcing this on the public. In fact it is the other way around.

I was looking at how much difference the new headlights the 86 have compare to our 13-16 pos halogen night and day again wtf was Toyota thinking with those pos headlights for those 3 years its not like these would cost Toyota a fortune. Sometimes its little details like this makes a huge difference to be honest just ranting out my thoughts. I just cringe now when I look at the stock pos halogens no offense.

When I imagine some focus-group clown being shown three versions of the same car and spiking the plethysmograph while moaning "muh aggressives" when seeing the ugliest version I'm not too far off. Great.

What's funny to me is that there is nothing "fake" about the FR-S/BRZ/86. It's more capable of fun than 75% of the cars on the road, and is as good at it as most of the rest. It does not need "fake" boy-racer looks.

More yelling at clouds, sorry. I hate those fake-aggressive clouds.

They are better as headlights, that's for sure. Why the need to include the LED DRL's, though? More look-at-me stupidity. I have them off as DRL's, but they still come on with the headlights. I've been flashed by oncoming traffic more than a few times.

My tentative list of to-do's in the spring is coming together:
1. Remove the "86" roundels.
2. Front end. Swap, buy or mod.
3. Ditch the DRL headlights assuming I can find something as good. That would also ditch the goofy "86" logo in the light.
4. Dump the POS head unit.
5. Or just ignore the previous four things. Dunno.

I would really like to know the thinking behind the front. From almost any angle, it's a sexy (to me) little car. Then you get to the front.

Boss: Looks very nice, but it lacks something...
Styling dude: What?
Boss: Not sure. I know, tell that intern, the one with the stupid hat who spends all day playing Fast & Furious he can design the front end.
Styling dude: But.....
Boss: No, great idea!

Can anyone with a 17 confirm that the headlight is a true hid projector?

If you hate everything about the car why did you buy it?

I'm not a fan of LED DRLs either. Yes, they make the car look really aggressive, which is cool, but I can only imagine how goofy/dumb it will look when the LEDs start burning out and also the cost of replacement.

I actually like the halogens because they are cheap and simple and DRLs on them remind me of the in-grille foglights on AE86 Levins. The light output is weak, but that is easily fixed.

I ran out of things to hate on the FR-S. And four small annoyances is just a bit short of "everything", no?

Why does it need to look "really aggressive"? As someone who likes the look, what is the attraction of "aggressive" on a car that can't back it up, at least in stock form anywhere but the twisties?

My DRL's cost $60 and last about 50,000 hours which is about 6 years if I leave them on 24/7 for 6 years straight.
