Plus, front mounted turbos have mega heat management issues, especially with a more experienced driver. |

Is a vented hood enough to negate that? Where do you consider the best turbo placement to be?

So far until I come up with a better plan, for the sake of longevity my long-term plan is to underdrive a c38.

. I haven't heard the opinion of other tuners. I know CSG and JRSC will advise against running pump on the HBP...guessing because you're more prone to knock and pre-ignition. However a good tune should be able to prevent those occurrences so I'm not so sure whats the deal.

Know how a hot frying pan will feel hot if you put your hand close to it? Imagine a hot turbocharger + all the exhaust piping sitting at the front of your engine bay. |

Where do you consider the "best" location for a turbo to be? |

Whether you can actually safely run a HBP on pump depends on your supporting mods, and tune. Because there are so many permutations and tuner choices, the safer recommendation is to give a blanket "No", and let the end user talk to their choice of tuner and decide if they want to go against the recommendation. The car tuned by Vit, uses an Ace A/350 ceramic coated header. The CSG BRZ (also with a ceramic coated Ace header) is capable of redlining on a C30 with HBP on ACN91, but isn't typically run that way on track. Even with a 91 octane tune, race gas is utilized at the track. |

The best location, is what allows for the shortest combination of charge piping and runners. Everything is a compromise. EG a FA20DIT has ultra short runners, but pretty long charge piping.
