Why don't they offer these accessories outside of Japan in their other markets? The parts and pieces are already developed, so there's no cost to them. Having the vertical LEDs to fill in that ugly gap in the front bumper cover available in North America and Europe would net them some extra cash. Bad business sense.

There's still the cost of producing more of them and stocking it here. Maybe they think the demand here wouldn't be high enough. Dealers wouldn't want to buy all these parts and keep em in stock. Just my guess anyway.

In Europe DRL are mandatory , therefore it's enough to wait sales of MY2017 in Europe to buy vertical DRL in cheaper way (Germany, the cheaper).

The MY2017 BRZ has DRLs integrated with the headlights now if I remember correctly. DRLs are officially the boomerang, so these vertical DRLs would be an extra (not required).

In Europe DRLs can be integrated in headlight but they may run in a separate circuit too, therefore I think that Euro version must be released with external DRLs like WRX STI does in add to boomerang in headlight. Here will be on sale only the grade "High", full optionals included.

Really? I don't think I've ever seen an Audi with separate DRLs for example... Honestly curious now.

It depends from several things:

Some new headlights in Europe can be installed if lumen emissions are lower (led light emissions for example) and therefore you can install without headlamp washer covers..and headlamp washer nozzles (new Fiat 500 i.g.) and integrated DRL.
Usual Xenon systems (mostly) requires headlight washer system and cannot have integrated DRL.
So if you see front bumpers without washer covers and nozzles for headlight it means that aren't full xenon system.
Here is illegal to install xenon aftermarket kit without these features, about $100 of ticket when caught.
It need to see if new headlights are ECE homologation (I think that aren't full led) but it seems that in Japan front bumper are with washer covers.....like euro rules, but Japan regulator is quite different from us.

I remember back in the day when Audi DRLs were running off the foglights. I had my Golf GTI programmed the same way with VAG-COM, and the H11 bulbs would only last a few years since they are pretty much constantly on. Default was just running the Xenon headlights as DRLs at lowered power.

Too bad on the Subaru it's not as simple as changing a bit on the hex editor. The new vertical LED strips look great.

My 2006 A4 has separate DRLs. Not mine, but see the attached image which shows the DRLs lit. The headlights are the bi-xenons outboard of the DRLs.

I meant separate as in the DRL is in its own housing and not within the headlight assembly.

If I'm understanding you right, the DRLs are the innermost lights that are currently lit in that pic right?
