The higher the pressure you can run in the cooling system, the less likely your coolant is to boil. A higher pressure cap can be very handy, not only to keep the coolant in the system, but also keeps it off the track and your tires if you get severe boiling for extended periods of time. The 1.3 bar cap will raise the pressure by containing more coolant in the system and releasing less into the expansion tank. Subaru didn't fit a 1.3 bar cap because a 1.1 bar gives plenty of boil over protection for a street driven car and its a standard part for all their other cars. If you're regularly tracking your car like I am in an area that doesn't see temps much below freezing and want to run a 70/30 water/coolant mix, then a 1.3 bar cap is probably a good idea. On another note I decided to replace my K&N intake filter and put a wrap on it this time. After cleaning the original one 3 times and it kept getting softer and caked with dirt, grime, bugs and rocks every track season I thought it would be a good idea to put a wrap on the new one. It's not restrictive at all and it will hopefully increase the time between cleanings.

Mate, i want to understand your statement. But you considered the plastic can melted due to track temps? On daily drivers sounds ok to me

The wrap is specially designed to extend the service interval of the filter when exposed to the elements (somewhat in my case). They are made from durable polyester material containing a uniform weave. It's made to stop small dirt particles with minimal restriction to the airflow of the filter. It will not melt. It will not even get remotely warm. The filter and the wrap are located on top and in front of the radiator (where the stock snorkel was) and it will have constant airflow going around and through it. You don't see the stock plastic airbox melting from track temps under the hood, do you?

Nice! I am currently in the market for a lap timer. I was going to buy an Aim Solo but you have me intrigued. If I were to buy this instead I wouldn't need my Open Flash Tuner in the car and I would gain a lap timer all in the same device.
Why did you buy this over the Aim Solo or any other lap timer?

I've reached out to you a few times on PM so thank you for your help! Finally got the chance to click through your entire thread. Really inspires me to get my own build thread up and running. I really wanted to go to GridLife Atlanta since I participate with gridlife often as it's the best bang for the buck in my area and running in gingerman raceway in michigan since it's only a few hours from chicago. But wow, made my work day go by fast and one hell of a build. If gridlife has another road atlanta, I'd love to sit in a session with you and get some tips! LOVE THIS CAR! FI anytime soon? I read you were debating with the jackson supercharger.

My debate with the JRSC ended when the Edelbrock/Harrop SC outperformed it on the dyno and on the track in pretty much every application. Lots more usable torque from a TVS 1320 supercharger than even a big C38 Rotrex. |
