People said the WRX was the new Civic, and to that I said great, because AWD>FWD! Again like everyone said, this car doesn't have the mass appeal or the versatility to become "the next Civic", but even still, it's right-wheel-drive and affordable, so to that I say the more, the merrier! Because of their affordability, I'm sure there will be plenty of toolbags out there that will buy them (already met one, unfortunately), but that'll be outweighed by the number of real enthusiasts and average joes that just want to have fun. It's a good thing, definitely!

They are targeting 20,000 annual. Their target this year is 10,000. Subaru is only projecting between 5,000 and 7,000.

Where do you get your numbers?

The Civic is FWD and the FR-S is RWD so it will weed out some of the bad drivers who aren't suited to drive a RWD sports car. I say this because of the countless S2000s I see totaled on S2KI.

I think in another thread we decided that "american-rice" would be "corn" which would make these cars Cornvettes.

Most will stay stock so no matter what ill have a shred of uniqueness. That and they will never sell as many of these as they do mustangs or camaros.

Not a chance, I came from an 08 Si and seen all Civics a dime a dozen (EX and LX models included). The Civic is an economy car, while good, it is what it is. Honda provides a sport trim to it, which is still admirable, but at the end of the day it's still cookie cutter. It's pretty much the younger crowd gets the coupe, the older crowd gets the sedan.

The FRS/BRZ is a purpose-built sports car and I doubt you'll see it nearly as much as the Civic. Even if production numbers were identical, I don't see it being nearly as economy/practical for most people.

I'd be more concerned about these cars getting attention from car thieves looking to steal/chop/resell for parts.

That and insurance caused by these cars getting attention from car thieves looking to steal/chop/resell for parts or Orido/Tsuchiya-wannabes wrapping these cars around trees.
